A double circular route between Cognières and Trévey

Park near Cognières Town Hall.

(S/E) Head south-east and walk through the village. When the Rue Principale (D76) turns right, turn left onto the Rue de la Roche.

(1) Join the D76 again at the church and follow it to the left. Take the first right. At the cemetery, turn right to reach the Saut de Corneille crossroads.

(2) First turn right then left onto Chemin du Château d’Eau, then turn right and enter the Bois de Bouhans. At the edge of the woods, cross the bridge over the high-speed rail line (LGV), then follow it to the left until you reach a junction by a telecoms mast.

(3) Enter the woods again by turning sharply right at a 90° angle. Cross the woods along a flat, easy path, emerging at a four-way junction.

(4) Turn left to reach the edge of the Bois de la Côte. 

(5) Turn right and head into the woods, until you reach the entrance to the hamlet of Trévey.

(6) Continue in the same direction, then turn right to reach the pond and the Trévey Fountain. 

(7) Turn back.

(6) Head slightly to the left, passing the Rondevau farm on your right, then return to the four-way junction you passed earlier.

(4) Take the path on the left until you reach the Gravelots crossroads.

(9) Turn left, then at Les Gravelots, turn right to return to the path you left earlier.

(10) Turn left, then take the D76, a quiet road, through the Bois des Cordes. You will then come out at the Cognières memorial stone.

(11) Walk past the memorial stone, then continue to the right along the edge of the forest to reach the crossroads by the quarry.

(12) Stay on the path on the left and head towards the Fermes Brûlées.

(12) Carry on straight ahead, pass under the high-speed rail bridge and enter Cognières. You’ll reach the town hall car park (S/E). 

A pretty village fountain, situated near a pond (7). A picnic area is available with a lovely view.

Between (9) and (10), enjoy the beautiful panoramic view here. You’ll cross a meadow where a magnificent Comtois horse is often to be seen.

(S/E) To extend the walk, you can do an additional 2.8 km circular loop through the forest by following the Le Bois Ageottes trail route, available on Visorando.

Tips & Equipment: 
Wear comfortable footwear (the paths can be muddy in places).
Bring water and a snack for your break at Trévey.
The walk is possible all year round, but watch out for wet paths after rain.
Respect the natural environment and close the gates behind you.

Between (2) and (3): Cognières Viaduct – lovely view of the village.
Between (5) and the Bois de Bouhans and Dampierre: a pleasant, shaded walk.
Trévey fountain and pond: the perfect spot for a break, with a picnic table.
Between (9) and (10) Panoramic detour: unobstructed view, with a Comtois horse often in sight.
(11) Cognières memorial stone: a historic landmark on the edge of the forest.
