Park in the car park on Place Jouffroy d’Abbans in Baume-les-Dames, opposite the supermarket.
(S/E) Head towards the leisure area to reach the red footbridge spanning the River Doubs.
(1) Cross the footbridge, then turn left to continue on the EV6 towards Montbéliard. Walk past the old factory and follow the Cusancin stream to join the Route de Lomont at the Pont des Pipes.
(2) Walk along this road (D19e), which climbs to the right, then take the fairly steep path on the left. Climb up to the statue of the Virgin Mary.
(3) Take the hairpin bend to the left and follow the track, then the fairly steep path towards the Fente de Babre, whilst following the red and white markings ofthe GR®®59. You’ll reach the junction with the Sentier des Crêtes.
(4) Turn left, following the sign for Fente de Babre, to quickly reach the Fente de Babre viewpoint overlooking the Doubs Valley.
(5) Follow the ridges and, further on, reach another viewpoint.
(6) Continue along theGR®® to reach the viewpoint on the north side, which overlooks the Grange Ravey.
(7) Leave theGR®® here and take the path on the right to reach a crossroads almost at the edge of the Bois de Babre.
(8) Continue downhill alongside the woodland to return to the junction on the Sentier des Crêtes which you passed on the way out.
(4) Join theGR®®59on the left and, heading in the opposite direction to the outward journey, return to the Jouffroy d’Abbans car park (S/E).
