The route starts from the Montbozon tourist and outdoor activity centre, where you can park. The starting point is the information sign at the end of Rue de l’Oignon.
(S/E) Turn right onto Rue du Pont and head uphill towards the village centre. Walk past the Fontaine du Cygne, situated at the foot of the wall of Montbozon Castle. Continue until you reach Rue de l’Église.
(1) Turn right, then take a left-hand bend and continue to the end of the street, almost opposite Rue du Collège.
(2) At the junction, carry straight on along Rue du Collège. On the corner, if you’re feeling peckish, you’ll find a bakery. Pass Rue de la Place on your left. On your left you’ll see the Bauday de Montbozon fortified house.
(3) Continue along the street, which becomes Rue du Champ de Foire, until you reach the cemetery.
(4) Take the path on your right, which goes through a small wood, then follow the track that continues to another wood.
(5) Turn right at the edge of the woodland onto the white track, then keep to the right to reach the junction with the D49. Take a left-right turn, crossing the road with care. Continue straight on to the car park at the outskirts of Thiénans, near the Acro’cimes forest park.
(6) Follow the path to the left until you reach the next junction, turn right towards Thiénans and the Chemin de Bois, and carry on to the end of the path.
(7) Turn right. At this junction, you’ll see a pétanque court and some benches. Carry on straight ahead at the Fork in the road, then turn left onto the shaded path known as “la Galeuse”.
(8) Follow the small path on the right leading to Montbozon, keeping to the left at all times. Enjoy the view of the Ognon and its meadows. You’ll come to Rue du Pont and, on the left, the Ognon water sports centre
(S/E).
