Pertuis walks
Visit to Pertuis
A walk to discover the historic centre of this small Provençal town, which still has some beautiful old houses, fountains and pretty squares.
Observe nature at the former gravel pits of Puy-Sainte-Réparade.
The route is flat and located between the Durance and the former gravel pits. This wet and well-shaded area around large bodies of water is ideal for wildlife, including beavers, nutria, herons, swans, cormorants, egrets and ducks. Observation posts have been set up.
Around Marinas, the Chinese Camp from Meyrargues
Easy walk on little-used tracks and paths.
The heath in Meyrargues
Short hike in the heath, on the heights of Meynargues, passing by a beautiful viewpoint over the Durance valley and the Grand Luberon, and ending with a visit to the village centre and a discovery of the remains of a Roman aqueduct.
Loop around the Pas de l'Étroit valley
Starting from Meyrargues, this hike offers superb views of the castle overlooking the village and the Durance valley. It takes you along the picturesque Pas de l'Étroit. The horizon is dominated in turn by the Luberon, Sainte-Victoire and finally the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps.
Panoramic view of the Durance Valley from Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade
Discover La Quille (or Quiho in Provençal), an ancient abandoned village, topped by an oppidum and the ruins of a castle. With panoramic views of the Trevaresse mountain range, Sainte-Victoire, the Durance valley, the Provence canal, the Alpilles, Le Grand Luberon, the Pre-Alps... and beyond.
A little further on is the Sainte-Réparade Chapel, before climbing a little higher up the hill.
This route offers numerous viewpoints over the Durance valley.
Le Mourre Nègre via Cabrières-d'Aigues
A beautiful walk in the Grand Luberon with the Mourre Nègre, the highest point of this massif, as your destination.
In the Pays d'Aigues: from Grambois to La Bastide-des-Jourdans
A walk through the Provençal countryside in the magnificent landscapes of the Luberon Regional Nature Park. This route, linking two typical villages in the Pays d'Aigues, follows unmarked paths, often through woodland and away from any traffic.
The landscapes are varied and reflect the richness of the flora and a past that can be glimpsed.
Please note: follow the directions carefully; using a GPS device can provide additional safety.
Mourre Nègre from Cabrières d'Aigues
A round trip to the highest point of the Luberon mountains, from Cabrières-d'Aigues.
Le Mourre Nègre via Cucuron
This long circuit allows you to discover two of the most beautiful valleys on the southern flank, the ridges and the highest point of the Grand Luberon, as well as the picturesque villages of Vaugines and Cucuron.
Mirail Spring and the Bastide du Bois
Start from the Mirail Spring and climb to the foot of the Luberon to enjoy a beautiful view at the Bastide du Bois. The panorama in an anti-clockwise direction offers views of:
- mourre Nègre.
- the Bonde lake.
- the Pays d'Aigues and Pertuis.
- the Étoile mountain range and Sainte-Victoire.
Cucuron Vaugines via La Chapelle de l'Ermitage
A magnificent hike with some very pretty views.
From the cistern to Vaugine via the Rocher de Curet
A short, varied hike that alternates between beautiful views, tracks through the heath and the human-scale escarpments of the Luberon.
The Crête du Grand Luberon ridge from Vaugines
This is one of my favourite hikes in the Grand Luberon, and you can easily vary the route along the summit. This hike takes you to the summit through several valleys, offering superb views in places. The descent on the oldGR®®9trail is just as interesting for its many views. (TheGR®®9route has now changed slightly.)
Two Provençal villages, Vaugines and Cucuron
A short hike connecting and exploring two pretty Provençal villages. Vaugines was made famous by the film "Manon des Sources", some scenes of which were shot in the church square, lined with hundred-year-old plane trees. Cucuron, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Provence, has preserved its beautiful ancient heritage, built on two hillocks topped with keeps.
