In Pertuis, leave your vehicle in the large Dévalade car park, west of the old town. This hike is not signposted.
(S/E) Walk up the street leading to the car park (Rue de la Dévalade) and you will arrive in front of the Notre-Dame troglodytic wash house, also known as the Lavoir des Poux.
(1) Take the street on your right, signposted towards the tourist office. Ignore the street on your left, towards the tourist office, and follow Rue des Escourts. At the fork in the road, keep left and you will arrive at Place Mirabeau, bordered by the Church of Saint-Nicolas. Note the keep, the remains of a castle.
(2) Walk past Saint-Nicolas Church on your right, continue to the town hall, then retrace your steps and turn right onto Rue de l'Église. At the end of the street, turn right (Rue Grande) and continue straight ahead at the next crossroads.
(3) At the intersection with Rue du Four, note the Lavoir Saint-Jacques and continue straight ahead. At the next crossroads, go straight ahead onto Rue Basse and you will arrive at the foot of the Tour Saint-Jacques or Tour du Nais.
(4) Retrace your steps and turn right onto Rue Vaillante to reach Place de l'Ange and its beautiful fountain. Also note the Maison du Consul and the house known as Maison de François1er.
(5) Continue straight ahead on Rue Saint-Pierre and, at the end of the street, first turn right then left to follow Rue Droite. Note the old stall, continue straight ahead at the intersection, then turn left (Rue du Fer) and turn right onto Rue Boileau. Continue straight ahead until you reach Rue Notre-Dame and follow it to the left to return to the crossroads of the eponymous wash house.
(1) Walk back down to the car park (S/E).
