Mundolsheim walks

A route on the outskirts of Strasbourg that allows you to get some fresh air in the nearby villages and their rural and bucolic surroundings. Ideal for a short outing, it is also accessible by bus from the centre of the Eurometropolis.

A cycle ride around Strasbourg on flat paths, starting from Place d'Haguenau, which will take you along the Rhône-Rhine Canal, through the Neuhof Forest, up along the Alsace Canal on the French side, then return via the German bank, following the Old Rhine to the Jardin des Deux Rives, straddling the Rhine and the border between Strasbourg and Kehl.

A delightful walk on the outskirts of the city, allowing you to explore the banks of the Ill and the ponds that lend a wild, natural feel to this urban area. You’ll spot plenty of birds (small passerines, geese and seagulls) as well as signs of beavers. An easy walk to enjoy in any season, though undoubtedly more pleasant in summer and in dry weather (paths can get muddy in places). You can get there and back on the E tram from the city centre.

In the historic heart of Strasbourg, take a stroll along the Ill and its many branches to discover a unique heritage!

Starting from Strasbourg, explore the peaceful banks of the Ill and observe its wildlife. Follow the dark waters of the mysterious Schwarzwasser as it winds its way through the heart of the Neuhof Forest. Finally, criss-cross the paths of the Rhine Tortu, which undulate to the gates of the city. Between water and forest, set your sights on unspoilt, peaceful nature, yet so close to the hustle and bustle of the city.

This walk takes place in Koenigshoffen and Montagne-Verte, districts of Strasbourg, not far from the city centre. You can enjoy the countryside, alongside the waterways, whilst the city is still within easy reach.

In the Wantzenau forest, along the Waldrhein, then along the Ill via the heron trail, you can observe herons, egrets, swans, ducks and wild geese at your leisure.

A beautiful bike ride of nearly 30 km starting from the Stade de la Meinau in Strasbourg. It will take you through the Neuhof forest, up along the Canal d'Alsace on the French side, then back along the German bank, following the Old Rhine to the Jardin des Deux Rives, which straddles the Rhine and the border between Strasbourg and Kehl. The route favours cycle paths and trails that are closed to vehicles.

Walk in the Wantzenau forest, including a large part of the heron trail. A very pleasant route through fields and forests, but be careful on hot days.

A charming circular walk in the heart of the Basse-Zorn valley, a stone’s throw from Hoerdt, the famous Alsatian capital of asparagus. This peaceful walk takes you through a bucolic and romantic setting, following the water’s course along shaded paths and country lanes. Passing through three typically Alsatian villages with authentic heritage, the route offers a blend of tranquillity and discovery, with no major difficulty thanks to its gentle gradient. The route takes in Bietlenheim, Geudertheim and Weyersheim, following the peaceful banks of the Zorn. Throughout the walk, you’ll discover Catholic and Protestant churches, old bathing spots, historic mills, wash houses and the picturesque atmosphere of these villages. A getaway combining nature and heritage.

A lovely ride through the beautiful villages along the Rhine between Kehl and Offenburg. The route follows cycle paths separated from traffic for almost the entire journey and is very well signposted throughout.

A lovely family walk around the village of Hangenbieten. The route gives you an overview of the village and the banks of the Bruche. If the weather is clear, you will have a panoramic view of the Black Forest as far as Obernai.

A short walk starting at the entrance to Hangebieten. This circular walk through the fields is ideal for families but is not suitable for pushchairs due to the uneven terrain. A 5km circular through the Illkirch forest, ideal for Nordic walking as it only takes a few metres of tarmac road.

A short family walk around the village of Kolbsheim. The route mainly passes through the meadows and fields around the village.

Most of this route takes place on farm tracks in the middle of fields. You will have views of several surrounding villages: Fessenheim-le-Bas, Kuttolsheim, Quatzenheim and Dossenheim-Kochersberg. You can also see the chapel of Himmolsheim, which was a small hamlet of about ten houses. This 12th-century chapel is also known as the Chapel of Saint Margaret.

A short walk in the sunshine between fields and vineyards around the village of Osthoffen. Some nice views, such as the vineyards of Scharrachbergheim-Irmstett slightly higher up, or Strasbourg cathedral in the distance.

From Gambsheim to Kilstett, this beautiful walk alternates between fields, forest and riverside paths. An easy route, ideal for families.

This is a short, unpretentious circular route through fields and built-up areas. The route runs alongside the Strasbourg-Entzheim airport runway, as well as a small section of the Bruche river and the Strasbourg-Molsheim railway line.

A short trip to the Nature Reserve on Rohrschollen Island at the gates of Strasbourg. A little-known getaway full of discoveries. Please note that dogs are strictly prohibited in the reserve, even on a leash. (5) June 2021: the city of Strasbourg has installed five rustic Highland Cattle cows on the island to clear the undergrowth beneath the power lines.

A pleasant, easy walk, ideal for families, taking you back to the Bronze Age.

Here is a route starting from the football stadium in Schwindratzheim, continuing to the Waltenheim bridge before following the Marne-Rhine Canal back to the Schwindratzheim bridge once more.

The Hattisheim route is a circular route that connects the villages of Blaesheim and Geispolsheim, both accessible by public transport from Strasbourg. Marked by a Red Ring, the route offers a varied walk. Historical heritage, including the Gloeckelsberg tower (former bell tower) in Blaesheim and the Chapel of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows in Hattisheim. Natural landscapes, with a route through vineyards, orchards and the Bruch de l’Andlau. Finally, local points of interest, such as fishing ponds once used for hemp processing.

A pleasant walk combining the countryside east of Bischwiller and a pretty path along the Rotbaechel. This route allows you to discover various curiosities such as the boiler of an old steam engine and a wash house on the Rotbaechel.
