Les Arcs walks

Easy walk on forest tracks from the Tour de Taradeau to the Croix with a superb view of the Argens plain.

This circular is ideal for a lovely family outing. Its largely shaded route offers beautiful views of the Argens, the Barres de Pouaré and the Rocher de Roquebrune. This circuit also offers the opportunity to climb to the summit of Cabredor and cross the oppidum that occupies it.

A family hike that allows you to discover the banks of the Aille and Argens rivers and explore the flora of the communal forest of Les Arcs-sur-Argens

This is a short tour that can be completed in an hour and allows you to recharge your batteries in nature. Starting from the Vidauban athletics stadium, after a few kilometres on a tarmac road, you will experience your first change of scenery with a ford that can be more or less difficult to cross depending on the season. Then you follow the golf course fence, first on a tarmac road and then, after a few hundred metres, on a very rough track, but the golf course offers magnificent views. Leaving the golf course, you enter the woods on small tracks, then cross another ford before reaching the Route du Plan de la Tour, after crossing another ford and the bridge over the Aille. The route ends by taking another grassy, shaded path.

This route can be challenging at times, especially after rain, but the landscapes it passes through are truly breathtaking. Starting in the Plaine des Maures, you cross a forest of umbrella pines, Douglas firs, holm oaks and cork oaks. The terrain varies greatly, from sand and pebbles to stones and tarmac, allowing you to catch your breath as you go. The highlights are the Route des Crêtes Marc Robert, which reveals Lac des Escarcets, a silvery lake in the middle of the green plain, and the descent of the Cinq Sedes, winding down to the village of Les Mayons with its many viewpoints. An unforgettable route!

A beautiful, very hilly route. Magnificent views of the Argens valley, crossing the confluence with the Aille. The difficulty really begins at the sixteenth kilometre, reaching almost the summit of Le Vinaigrier. The route alternates between tarmac, dirt tracks, with or without ruts depending on the season, and stony tracks with varying amounts of roots. In short, a demanding and attractive route.

A very picturesque route which, when the weather conditions are right, allows you to observe the Pic de l'Ours on the Estelle on one side and Notre-Dames des Anges on the Maures on the other, from the vicinity of the summit of Castel Diaou. You'll pass through a multitude of different landscapes in the woods, valleys and ridges. You follow the Argens and the Aille, and cross them after, or even before, overlooking them.

A beautiful hike between plains and low mountains, offering sumptuous landscapes. Start at the Aille and, after a few kilometres, tackle the first 3 km climb. Descend for 2 kilometres before tackling the hardest part: a climb of about 6 kilometres that starts on a track that is half sand, half earth, before turning into a stony track.

A beautiful, easy hike in the Maures plain. It crosses the plains, passes over the Aille, crosses fords, goes through woods, and ventures onto a botanical trail with descriptions. The return journey follows the same route, with a few variations, and, as on the way there, care should be taken on the bends in the track north of Les Plaines, which hide the watercourses that can cause severe erosion.

A very beautiful short hike through the undergrowth, taking half of the fitness trail and part of the nature discovery trail.

A pleasant walk letting you discover the National Forest of the Colle du Rouët, the Trou de Gournié, also called Cascade de l'Endre and the river Endre.

This walk allows you to climb Roquebrune Rock without retracing your steps.

A magnificent family walk around Lake Aréna, on the banks of the Argens and at the foot of the Rocher de Roquebrune. The flora is interesting: you will find Spanish broom, scorpion broom, cotton cistus, Provence cane, prickly pear, fennel, wood chervil, white bread, false cypress euphorbia, eleven o'clock flowers, radiated anacycles, sage-leaved rockrose, white campion, ravenelle, flax, meadow clover...

Short hike in the Provençal countryside before climbing up to see the remains of the Oppidum de Meren and ending with a magnificent view of Vieux Cannet and the Argens plain.

Vieux Cannet des Maures, a village of character that is well worth a visit. Entraygues, its inaccessible Saint-Michel cave chapel and the natural arches of the Argens. Following a joint decision (operator, municipalities, etc.), the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Conservatory of Natural Areas has therefore prohibited access to this cave chapel. An easy walk in the Massif des Maures. Beautiful trails, rivers, streams, lakes and unique terrain. Not to mention the cork oaks, characteristic of the massif, and a varied flora (dwarf irises, anemones, orchids, etc.). This is a beautiful hike of about 5 hours in the Colle du Rouët national forest in Le Muy, in a wild environment offering a 180° panorama to the south, with magnificent views of Saint-Raphaël, Fréjus and the sea to the east, and as far as Sainte-Baume and Montagne Sainte-Victoire to the west. The second part of the hike includes a tricky off-trail section through vegetation, from (5) to (7). Description of the possible alternative route in the Practical Information section.

A circular on the heights of Le Thoronet takes you through vineyards, olive groves and hamlets to the banks of the Argens river, where you can take a break in the cool. The name of the route is known as "Manjas de Perus", which translates as "wild pear eaters", linked to the poverty of the isolated hamlets.

Nestled among vineyards and pine trees, La Bouverie is a pretty residential neighbourhood and the green heart of Roquebrune-sur-Argens. At the foot of the majestic Gorges du Blavet, where the red rock of the Estérel rises in steep cliffs, hiking trails lead in the footsteps of Homo Bouvérien. Archaeologists have recognised that the Roquebrune-sur-Argens area has been continuously inhabited throughout prehistoric times. The caves of La Bouverie are the earliest evidence of this.

A moderately difficult circular route with superb views of the Mediterranean, the Rocher de Roquebrune-sur-Argens and the Haut Var. A fairly easy climb and a slightly steep descent.

An easy hike with little elevation gain. A wide variety of landscapes in a wetland area: wooded areas, vineyards, open spaces, rock formations, varied vegetation (beautiful dwarf irises in April). Carved into red volcanic rock, the gorges offer beautiful geological features such as the Grotte de Muéron, one of the major climbing sites in the Var, and at the heart of this hike. At the foot of one of these many cliffs, you will find the prehistoric Muéron cave, which was occupied 10,000 years BC. From its very wide entrance, it extends deep into the rock and still provides shelter from storms today. Its proximity to the Blavet river and forests (a source of fuel), its southern exposure and its commanding view of the valley made it possible to follow wild herds and made it particularly attractive for camps during the Bronze Age.

A walk in an exceptional location, discovering the Blavet Gorges and the Mueron Cave, inhabited during the Bronze Age.Ideal in summer and mid-season, avoid periods of heavy rain.

In the hinterland of Saint-Tropez, a beautiful hike allows you to discover the old town of La Garde-Freinet, beautiful landscapes of heathland and cork oak forests, as well as the Roches Blanches, a rocky outcrop of quartz. Not to mention the Croix des Maures and Fort Freinet, carved into the rock in the Middle Ages.

This final stage, which links La Garde-Freinet to Roquebrune-sur-Argens, is part of the Grande Traversée des Maures "Montem Maurum". This diagonal route across the Maures mountains offers magnificent views amid varied and wild vegetation. The Rocher de Roquebrune appears from an original angle, in all its dazzling beauty.

A walk around a little-known village with hidden gems, close to home! Montferrat is located 14 km north of Draguignan. The hike starts at Place des Allées, west of the village in front of the pretty village school. The esplanade, a former transhumance site, is adorned with centuries-old plane trees and bordered by the Nartuby River. We are in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Most of the route is through woodland.

An easy family walk between sun and shade (between the south-facing and north-facing slopes, in fact), with lovely views of the sea on the south-facing slope and the coolness of the forest on the way back.

Ascent to the Sainte-Anne Chapel, located 624 m above sea level on the western summit of the Plateau du Puy, passing by the ruins of a Ligurian oppidum. Easy hike in the Provence scrubland and forest (thyme, lavender, rock rose...)
