Description of the route

Park in the car park of the Clos de Vidauban athletics stadium.

(S/E) Leave the Clos estate with the stadium behind you and the railway line on your right, heading towards the D48 (road to St-Tropez, La Garde-Freinet).

(1) Just before leaving the estate, do not take the main road and do not go under the bridges (A8 and VF), but take the first left. Follow the motorway and then turn right at the junction towards the bridge.

(2) Turn right again onto Chemin du Pommier and, immediately afterwards, go under the motorway bridge. At the junction just after, continue straight on along Chemin de Roucas Troucas (street sign). You will reach a multi-way junction.

(3) Continue straight ahead on Chemin de Roucas Troucas. Keep left at the next Fork in the road, follow two small ponds on your left and continue to the end of the track.

(4) Take the dirt track on the right, which can be very muddy in wet weather or afterwards. Cross the first ford and continue to the second.

(5) Two options here, depending on the season:
- in summer, it is passable and allows you to continue the route to reach the pond at Gascarin by turning right after the crossing,
- in winter, turn back (option shown on the map).

(4) Follow the track, passing by the two ponds again.

(3) Take the track on the left to reach the Pourcieux crossroads.

(6) Turn left to create a circular route around a small rocky outcrop shaped like a tower. The stony track climbs and joins the Chemin de Roucas junction, which you have already passed twice.

(3) Take the track on the left again.

(6) Back at the Pourcieux crossroads, head straight on, ignoring the other tracks to the right or left, and follow the Aille river.

(7) Turn left to take a look at a new ford. Turn back, continue left until you reach the D72 junction.

(8) Take the D72 to the left and, after the bend in the Aille, reach the bridge crossing the river.

(9) Cross the bridge and enjoy the beautiful view of the waterfall. Head down to the right along the small track to get a closer look and see the remains of the mill.

(10) Return to the main road and follow it to the right. At the Fork in the road, keep left and continue to the first entrance to the golf course.

(11) Take the track on the left running alongside the A-road. At the next junction, keep left onto a stony track that descends, skirting the golf course, which is recognisable by its fence and mown green areas. You’ll reach another shallow ford.

(12) Cross it and follow the stony track. Go round a large building on the left and you’ll reach the crossroads by the small pond.

(13) Turn right, then immediately left. Walk along the small pond and, heading south all the way, reach the junction with the D72.

(14) Turn right onto it.

(11) Continue straight on and stay on the road to return to the Aille bridge.

(9) Turn left and, further on, rejoin the Chemin du Rey d'Agneou. Pass through the neighbourhoods of Les Prés de Réchou and Le Jas d'Aille to reach the D48.

(15) Head straight across the road. Follow the tarmac road to Marafiance through the vineyards of the Domaine des Farauds, which ends at the junction with the Chemin de la Verrerie Neuve.

(16) Turn right onto this road, cross the Ruisseau du Cavalier and head for the junction with the Chemin des Parins.

(17) Turn left onto this path until you reach the Chemin de Pied de Banc.

(18) Turn right and, at the next junction, turn right again, staying on Chemin de Pied de Banc. Follow the motorway and, after two right-angle bends, first to the right then to the left, rejoin the Route de Saint-Tropez (D48).

(19) Turn left onto it and return to the original junction.

(1) Follow the route you took on the way there in the opposite direction to return to the starting car park (S/E).

A walk taken after the big fire in June... so the first part takes place in a lunar landscape... sniff

Please specify "lake" or "public bathing area" as the starting point instead of "swimming pool".
There is no swimming pool in Salerno.
The route description is missing the colours of the markings and the points where the marked paths end.

A lovely walk, though it’s best to do the tarmac section in the morning as there’s not much shade, especially on the way back. The Aille waterfall was brilliant. We had no regrets about walking around the golf course, as donkeys and prickly pears were waiting for us 😁. Thanks 👍

The route was mapped out by a mountain biker, so it isn’t necessarily suited to hikers (lots of roads and tarmac). I’m not sure where the 628m of elevation gain came from? But the idea is still a good one and it’s a lovely spot. It’s a bit of a slog for a group on foot. Thanks to him and to VisoRando for the info.
Kind regards
