The Trois Croix of the Rocher de Rochebrune (round trip)

A superb hike, difficult, even very difficult, but one that takes you to the Trois Croix on the Rocher de Roquebrune with a splendid, almost 360° view of the Mediterranean, the Maures, Sainte-Baume, Sainte-Victoire, Grand Bessillon, the Verdon, the Estérel and the towns of Roquebrune, Puget-sur-Argens, Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël. Much of the route is shaded. The ascent is difficult; the descent requires extreme caution.
⚠️ Some sections feature cables or chains over a few metres. Not recommended for those prone to vertigo.

Description of the walk

Before or after the bridge over the Argens on the D7, take the Route de la Maurette and head for the car park (PB) to the west-south-west of the Rocher de Roquebrune.

(S/E) Turn your back on the road and follow the blue markings. After a short steep descent, join the red and white markings of the GR®51.

(1) Turn right onto a pleasant, easy-to-follow path through the woodland. You’ll reach the large crossroads at Haute Rouquaire.

(2) Head right, towards the south-east, and follow a fence. You’ll reach a junction of paths.

(3) Turn left, leaving the GR® markings, and follow the signs for Les Trois Croix: yellow PR® markings. Follow the path to reach the foot of the Rocher de Rochebrune. Begin the actual ascent, which includes short difficult sections equipped with safety cables or chains. Reach Les Trois Croix and enjoy the sweeping panorama.

(4) Descend via the same route as the ascent: extreme caution is advised on the return to the car park (S/E).
