Hike between plains and low mountains starting from Vidauban

A beautiful hike between plains and low mountains, offering sumptuous landscapes. Start at the Aille and, after a few kilometres, tackle the first 3 km climb. Descend for 2 kilometres before tackling the hardest part: a climb of about 6 kilometres that starts on a track that is half sand, half earth, before turning into a stony track.

Description of the route

Start at the athletics stadium in the Clos housing estate, Avenue du Clos, in Vidauban.

(S/E) Leave the stadium behind you and head towards the exit of the housing estate.

(1) At the crossroads, turn left onto Route de Saint-Tropez.

(2) Just after the motorway bridge, continue right onto Chemin de la Rourède, then left onto Chemin de la Rourède Est, and right onto Chemin de Roucas Troucas. You will come to a green gate on the right, behind a small bridge over a stream.

(3) Turn right onto the dirt track, which is rough and stony at first, then grassy and stony again. Pass the three houses in the hamlet of Einesi, go downhill and you will come to a wide white track. Turn right and you will come to a road.

(4) Turn left, pass a small bridge and continue to the bridge over the Aille.

(5) Cross it, then follow the road to the first right turn.

(6) Turn right onto the Piste de Bérard, a stony track that descends to a ford.

(7) Continue south on the Piste des Fenouils, a dirt road with stones and roots. At the first intersection, turn left and, after a little over 100 m, reach the next one.

(8) Take the track on the left and continue south-east until the next junction.

(9) Turn 90° left and follow the track for about 1.2 km until you reach a three-way junction.

(10) Turn left and head north on a fairly uneven, very stony and rutted track. Soon you will pass the fence of the Vidauban golf course and arrive at a road.

(11) Continue right for about 800 metres until you reach a junction with a track on the left and a fire hydrant.

(12) Take this track and climb up the sandy, stony track. After a few hundred metres, it widens and joins the Piste de l'Aube. Keep right and descend to the road you left earlier.

(13) Continue left towards Plan de la Tour. Follow the road for about 2 km, which runs alongside the Ruisseau du Langoustaou. Pass the hamlet of Langoustaou, over a bridge on your right, and arrive at a track on the left.

(14) Take it and keep left at the following junctions. Climb for 3 km, pass the telecommunications pylon and, at the pass, continue left onto the Piste des Pommiers until you reach the three-way junction that follows.

(15) Continue left on this same track and join the Argens bridge.

(16) Cross the two arms and continue on the paved Chemin du Bac for about 400 m until you reach a track on the left.

(17) Take the Piste de la Tournavelle, going through a barrier restricting vehicle access. Follow it straight ahead to the end. Go uphill for about 2 km, then downhill to the junction marked by another barrier.

(18) Turn left onto the white gravel track that runs alongside the motorway on one side, then the old go-kart track. Cross a small ford and then a large horse paddock. Continue until you reach a junction where you can see the first houses.

(19) Continue right, around a hairpin bend, and follow the very stony track with large roots, which climbs slightly. Continue on this road until you reach the junction with the paved road, which is closed by a barrier.

(20) Turn left onto Chemin du Plateau, then at the next crossroads, go straight ahead and follow Chemin de la Savoie downhill until you reach the motorway.

(21) Continue right, follow the motorway, and continue on Chemin de l'Estre until you reach Avenue du Clos.

(1) Turn right to follow the motorway and return to the entrance of the Clos housing estate. Turn right and continue until you reach the athletics stadium (S/E).
