Le Val walks

A lovely little family hike that takes you to Notre-Dame de Paracol. Beautiful views of all the surrounding hills.

A short walk in Correns to discover its canal, the inclined plane on the right bank of the Argens, its apié and its lime kiln. It bears witness to the traces left by our ancestors with the practice of trades that have now disappeared.

In the heart of the Vallon Sourn, where the Argens river winds its way, this short circular walk will take you through the Défens forest near Les Bessillon, via the Vallon des Baumes and the Val Obscur. At the end of the walk, a refreshing dip in the Argens will do you good.

Tour of Carcès via the lake, passing by the Notre-Dame de Caramy chapel, the waterfalls, the lake, the heights of Brauch and back through the village. Route modified. A lovely little walk along a path that runs alongside a small canal and leads to the magnificent Caramy Waterfalls.

This hike will visit the village of Carcés, Carcés Lake and the splendid Caramy Falls. Best in the spring when the water flow is stronger. You also will take a part of the path of Saint Jacques de Compostela.

An easy walk in the Garéoult Communal Woods. The route alternates between paths through oak woods and stony tracks. The woods provide food for goats, which graze on the bushes and low oak foliage. Their milk is made into cheese at the Bergerie du Défens.

The walk to the Saint-Quinis Chapel offers exceptional views of the Issole Valley from the ridge.

The medieval village of Cotignac is one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France" and was voted "France's Favourite Village" in 2022. The impressive Tuf Rock and its troglodyte dwellings, the Chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Grâces, the old 16th and 17th century houses lining the narrow streets, the Cours Gambetta with its beautiful façades and plane trees, the 17th century Church of Notre Dame de l'Annonciation, the Grand-Rue, the Town Hall Square, the 17 fountains and the two 14th-century towers are the main attractions in Cotignac. The route crosses the Cours Gambetta, climbs up to the Chapel of Notre-Dame des Grâces, continues along the Chemin de Notre Dame, descends towards the village through the Les Verdares and Le Derroc districts, then passes through the Ville-Haute and the Rocher cliff.

In search of old bridges over the Argens, passing through vineyards and forest.

A walk in the hills of Forcalqueiret Castle: Le Castellas. As access to the ruins has been prohibited since 2017, this circuit brings together several pleasant trails that reveal the castle from different angles.

Hike starting from the charming village of Cabasse, near Carcès, where you can discover several historical sites.

In hot weather, it is pleasant to walk along tree-lined paths and enjoy the coolness of the river. Today, I suggest you explore the Caramy Gorges on both banks and admire the chaotic rock formations of the Sauts du Cabri. Moderator's note Warning! See reviews. Hello, after (1), it is no longer possible to climb up into the valley due to a fence with a sign saying "private property, no trespassing". We had to turn back and climb up via the route planned for the descent. Hiking in Provence Verte. In 5 to 6 hours, discover several beautiful places near La Roquebrussanne. The old Saint-André chapel hidden in the mountains, the summit of La Loube with a view to the north towards Sainte-Baume, Saint-Maximin and Brignoles and to the south, the sea and the Iles d'Or, the cave of the 400 sheep.

The Bessillon twins are battered witnesses to history. Occupied during the Iron Age, they saw Pontevès develop during the Middle Ages and served as a refuge for the Resistance during theSecond World War.Developed by the Provence Verdon Community of Communes, the Randonner Autrement project aims to introduce families to the natural heritage, the outlying built heritage, the landscapes and their evolution, as well as views of the villages. A pleasant hike offering magnificent 360° views from the summit, stretching from the Alps to the sea via Mont Ventoux. Route for experienced hikers.

A loop with three major points of interest: - the village of Pontevès and its ruined castle at the top of the village, - the climb up the Petit Bessillon, offering a beautiful view of the Var department, and its technical descent, - the return to Barjols via the Vallon des Carmes and its waterfalls (currently closed, see practical information). The village of Entrecasteaux developed around a beautiful medieval castle in the Bresque Valley. The hike begins in front of the beautiful garden attributed to Le Nôtre at the foot of the medieval castle. After reaching the top of the village, it follows beautiful tracks and paths towards Saint-Antonin-sur-Var. It then climbs towards the ridge north of Entrecasteaux to reach the Défens de Valpaironne viewpoint.

A dense, cool forest and a panoramic view of the Provençal mountains with the Îles du Levant in the distance. A mostly elevated hike, a floral explosion in June, and a refreshing end along a small river.

A lovely hike up to Pivaut ice house (1880), which has been beautifully restored.

A pleasant hike that is not difficult. Approximately 12 km in total with a gentle slope both uphill and downhill. Just be careful on the way back as the path is rocky in places.
