Saint-Sébastien Chapel in Camps-la-Source

A walk suitable for children but not for pushchairs. It can be educational thanks to the information boards along the route.

Description of the walk

There are several parking spaces at the entrance to the Les Mas du Tilleul housing estate on Chemin de Besse.

(S/E) Head towards Avenue du Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny and turn right until you reach the D12.

(1) Turn left, then right 100 m further on onto Chemin Pélicon, which is unpaved.

(2) After about 200 m, at the three-way junction, continue to the right, still on Chemin Pélicon.

(3) Keep to the right on the same track.

(4) At the junction of Chemin Pelicon and Chemin de Pourraque, cross the tarmac road and take the track on the right for 400 m.

(5) At the junction with the D12, take the Carraire de Saint-Sébastien opposite and continue along this track to the Chapelle Saint-Sébastien.

(6) Behind the chapel (opposite the entrance), take a small track leading downhill, marked in red.

(7) At the open-air theatre, follow the red markings to the entrance of the Les Mas du Tilleul housing estate. At the three-way junction, continue straight ahead to cross the estate and return to the car park (S/E).

Only the first 400 metres are on a tarmac road.
Take care when crossing the D12

Worth a visit

The Saint-Sébastien Chapel is typical of the region but, unfortunately, is often closed.
On the second part of the path leading down from the chapel, information boards describe different types of Provençal vegetation.
The open-air theatre is worth a look, but nothing more.

A pleasant, easy walk. Scenery featuring woodland and vineyards, mostly in the shade.

An easy walk in beautiful surroundings. The only issue is finding a parking space at the start if there are several cars; the description is good.

Hello
A very pleasant, family-friendly hike undertaken on 1 July 2023.
Regarding the description, and given that I didn’t use a GPS, a few clarifications are needed:
- First line: after "...on the road to Besse", add "...to Brignoles".
- (S/E) change the name of the avenue to read “...Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny” instead of “Général”.
- (6) Instead of “At the chapel, take a small track on the right...”, read “Behind the chapel (opposite the entrance door), take a small track...”

A lovely route for a Sunday stroll around Brignoles, with a variety of paths and scenery. It’s easy to follow the route using the map, but do be careful not to take the wrong turn by the chapel if you’re in a hurry xD
