Le Givre walks

The Troussepoil Adventure Trail and discovery of the village of Le Givre.

Hike through the countryside of the commune of Le Bernard to discover six dolmens, including the largest in the Vendée (the Frébouchère dolmen), four menhirs and a Gallo-Roman tower. Information panels are provided at each site. A significant part of the circuit is on tarmac. Can also be done by mountain bike.

A 13 km circuit along the edge of Lake Graon allows you to enjoy the local flora and fauna. A very varied circuit with narrow paths and woodland trails... A real treat. The circuit can be extended by small loops of around 2 km (La Renardière and Les Petites Touches).

Two unique and very different valleys: Piquet with its granite chaos and the darker and more peaceful Pierre aux Fées.

Enjoyable walk around the Finfarine dam lake in Poiroux (85) with numerous shaded paths. Two circuits are available: - a short 7 km circuit, - a long 9 km circuit.

A hike starting from a charming village, passing through La Gerbaudière with its old farms and the ruins of an ancient castle tower (the leaning tower). Nature is not to be outdone with the passage through the Yon valley and charming sites such as Boutet and the ford at La Roussière. A few megaliths are visible, such as the Pierre qui Vire, and in the village of Le Tablier, some house walls are built on granite blocks.

Enjoy the woods and beach at La Tranche-sur-Mer. Please note: part of the route runs along the beach and is not accessible at high tide. In this case, you can start from point (6) and reach point (2) via the forest paths.

A round trip to visit the two tourist sites in Nesmy: the pottery, the legacy of over a hundred years of family expertise, with guided tours organised during the school holidays; and Rambourg Mill, the last intact watermill in the Yon Valley, a magnificent mechanical world worthy of Jules Verne, which can be visited every summer and during special events. A short, easy walk of about an hour on the outskirts of Aubigny. In addition to its botanical interest, with some remarkable species, the fauna is not to be outdone. You may encounter a deer as surprised as you are by this encounter, a cuckoo, a bird of prey or even a chorus of toads. On the historical side, there is a small stone fountain, once the water source for the village of Mortevieille.

A walk along the banks of the Yon river to the villages of Nesmy and Chaillé Sous les Ormeaux.

A circular walk through the bocage countryside with hidden biodiversity along the way, so keep your eyes peeled for the early purple orchid, the greater asphodel and numerous pollarded trees. The walk is described starting from the “Église” bus stop, but the route begins at the car park of the Aubigny sports complex.

The village of Mareuil-sur-Lay-Dissais, crossed by the River Lay, is a stopover for hiking in this wooded valley. Fauna and flora are abundant.

Path around Nesmy along the Yon. You will discover the village of Nesmy, the Rambourg mill and some superb landscapes.

A walk along the Yon, with the option of visiting the Moulin de Rambourg (in summer) and the Nesmy pottery. This route starts at the "Brancaire" bus stop on line 14, but it is possible to park your car in the car park by the Yon and do the walk there and back.

A short hike for lovers of unspoilt nature.

This route will introduce you to the town of Talmont with its marshes fed by the Payré River, which flows through the village of Talmont, also famous for its castle built by Richard the Lionheart.

Discover the Guittière marshes and Port de la Guittière, and sample oysters (with tasting) from the producers.

Circular to the east of the village of Grosbreuil with typical Vendée bocage landscapes. Calm and relaxing, it allows you to discover a diverse flora, a beautiful sunken path and the trail called "Sentier des Gaulois" (Gaulish Trail).

A short but surprising route that takes you to the small valley of La Tinouze, a green corridor teeming with biodiversity. There are numerous educational panels dotted around La Tinouze, so keep your eyes peeled.

A small corner of the valley that is still wild! The Yon, still modest, is mostly only visible through the trees, but what vegetation! It is a visual and auditory delight, with birds accompanying us all the way.

A hike immersed in nature, with varied bocage, this hike has no shortage of relief, small climbs, large descents, and small streams, giving you the feeling of being far away from everything. Be careful of muddy sections in winter.

A walk through the Forêt de la Chaise, passing by the small Château de la Ricotière. In the forest, you can see ancient oaks, gigantic pines and Douglas firs; listen carefully to hear the tapping of woodpeckers on the tree trunks as you pass the end of the Étang du Ruisseau des Noailles. You might be lucky enough to spot a few fallow deer in the deer park on the right, or perhaps see a mallard take flight.

This hike is best done in dry weather, as the trail becomes muddy in the forest area in winter. This route takes you along a sunken path, alternating between open and wooded areas, making for a pleasant hike. The different biotopes encountered promote a rich biodiversity, and it is not uncommon to see squirrels darting about, the entrance to a woodpecker's nest, deer and wild boar tracks, and hear the song of chickadees.
