Description of the walk

(S/E) From the Place de l'Église, head towards the Maison de la Libellule. Take the path opposite, behind the church. At the bottom of the short descent, take the street on the left. Pass the last houses in the village and walk along a path which, further on, runs alongside the river. Take the footbridge over a ford and continue along the path. There are picnic tables on the right and you can see the Moulin de Furet on the left. The path turns left. Before the climb, a short break in this peaceful setting by the river is a must, offering the chance to spot herons, coypu, water lilies in bloom depending on the season, and more...
At the top of the climb, you reach the village of Les Vallées. Just past the first barn, turn left onto the sunken path that winds through woodlands and meadows.

(1) At a three-way junction, turn right then follow a vineyard before reaching the village of La Blinière. Cross the village and continue along a
very shady path.

(2) At the fork, 300 m further on, turn left. The path then descends towards the river. Cross the first branch of the river – you’ll find yourself on a small island with picnic tables – then a second one to reach the right bank of the Yon.

(3) Turn left, then, at the junction, go straight on and do not take the path that climbs to the right towards the village of La Merlerie. Follow the river.

(4) Leave the river by taking the path at the end that climbs quite steeply.
Turn left at the top of this steep slope and you will come to a wider path that leads onto a small road. Turn left.

(5) On the next climb, take the path on the left which runs initially alongside vineyards, then through a pine forest, then across meadows. You’ll come to a road.

(6) Turn left, then immediately left again onto a small sunken path. At the end of this path, you rejoin the path you took on the way out, which leads to the ford. Turn right to return to the Place de l’Église (S/E).

A wonderful walk in the glorious December sunshine: varied, unspoilt landscapes, the river that we come across as the paths wind their way... a brilliant walk!

A lovely little walk, a beautiful spot with stunning views of the river and the rolling countryside. A place that’s still unspoilt

Hello,
A lovely walk, but I wouldn’t classify it as ‘easy’ – there are plenty of climbs and for those new to walking it’s a bit tougher!
The signposting is very good, lovely views
Best regards
Martine
