Departure from Moutiers les Mauxfaits, gendarmerie car park.
(S/E) Follow Rue Raymond Poincaré at the bottom of the police station towards La Tranche sur Mer.
(1) At the bottom of the church, turn right onto Rue de la Fontaine to go down to the wash house bridge. At the wash house, turn left and follow the stream called "Troussepoil". After about a hundred metres, cross the stream again. Come out onto a road and first turn left then right to cross it at the pedestrian crossing and continue opposite on Chemin de Réau, walking alongside the school on your left.
(2) After about 50 metres, turn right onto a path between the houses and take the footbridge over the Troussepoil. Continue east-southeast on the path, staying on the edge of the woods or slightly inside them. After a right-hand bend, pass under a power line and you will come to a fork.
(3) Turn left and walk along India Forest Park. Stay on the path (which can be muddy in wet weather) and keep left at each intersection.
(4) At the edge of the woods, the stream flows across the path, but there is a footbridge to cross it. Pass La Passagère and turn right onto the road for a few dozen metres.
(5) Take thefirst dirt track on the right. Walk south-southeast.
(6) Return to the tarmac road at Point de Vue. Continue straight ahead and pass Les Chaponnières. Walk past the town hall of Le Givre and continue straight ahead. At the crossroads, turn left and leave the church and square on your left.
(7) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead and walk along the castle wall to see the pot-shaped chimney through the foliage of the trees.
(8) Retrace your steps a little.
(7) Turn right onto Rue de Madagascar (D85) and go down to the cross. Then veer slightly to the right and continue on the D85 for over a kilometre (passing the hamlet of Le Treil).
(9) Turn left towards La Riottière. Ignore a turn-off on the right and continue straight ahead to take a path with a very wet section (in rainy weather, mud for 30 metres - wear suitable footwear). At the crossroads (elevation 30), go straight ahead and descend.
(10) Take the footbridge to cross the Ruisseau des Brosses stream. The shaded path climbs back up between the meadows.
(11) At the crossroads, rejoin the road and head towards Les Mauxfaits. Pass in front of a few characterful houses. At the intersection, turn left.
(5) At the junction you took on the way out, continue straight ahead and, at the fork that appears immediately, turn left and cross the hamlet of La Passagère.
(4) Cross the stream again via the small wooden bridge. Follow the outward route in reverse and return to the village of Moutiers-les-Mauxfaits (S/E).
