Black Forest Genießerpfad: Gernsbach Legends Trail
The signposted Gernsbach Legends Trail (Genießerpfad) runs mainly over natural terrain and, despite a few inclines, can be comfortably walked in 1.5 to 2 hours of pure walking time over a distance of 5.3 km. It is characterised by its many narrow, sometimes almost alpine paths, which link the individual stops together. However, this means the trail is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair users; sturdy footwear is definitely recommended.
The signposted circular route begins at the Klingel Chapel (Schlossstraße, Klingelstraße, about 1 kilometre towards Obertsrot) and connects seven stops around the Gernsberg. The route is consistently signposted with the ‘little devil’ symbol. Parking is available at the Gernsbach Spa Gardens on Igelbachstraße.
As a so-called ‘Genießerpfad’, the Gernsbach Legends Trail has been awarded the premium seal of approval by the German Hiking Institute.
