The Faÿ-lès-Nemours Polissoirs Trail

In the footsteps of our Neolithic ancestors, this hike takes you to no fewer than eight sites with polishers, blocks of abrasive stone (here sandstone) that were used to shape everyday tools and weapons.
The trail was designed and signposted by the Pays de Nemours Community of Communes.
The Tonne Valley and the Sea of Sand

An easy hike in the Nemours National Forest. The path is very sandy and almost always in the shade. In autumn, at the end of the hike, between Les Brulis and La Mer de Sable, if the heather is in bloom, you can enjoy a beautiful rocky landscape.

Many of the paths are very quiet. And as always in Fontainebleau, there is a great variety of vegetation.
There are numerous changes of direction, so remain vigilant.
The Rocher des Princes

The Rocher des Princes is a medium-difficulty loop in the pretty Fontainebleau Forest. It alternates between fairly steep climbs and descents with flat paths, allowing you to rest between the difficult sections.

Rock art in the Forest of Fontainebleau

A short, easy themed route showcasing rock art discovered in the Forest of Fontainebleau and in the south of the Île-de-France region. Seven chronological information panels, with representations of the landscape at the time, photos and casts of engravings, take us on a journey from the Palaeolithic era to the present day.
The route was designed, developed and is maintained by the ONF.
The “Circuit des 25 Bosses” (the 25 Bumps Circuit)

As the name suggests, is this route ascends 25 mounds that form a circuit of the of the Trois Pignons forest. A hike amid the rocks that makes an excellent training run before mountain hikes in the summer.
N.B. The elevation is underestimated: between 800 and 900 metres total cumulative change in altitude. It’s difficult to find a larger change in altitude in the Ile-de-France, unless you want to take the steps up and down the Eiffel Tower three times on the trot. Expect to be walking for 6 to 7 hours.
At the confluence of the Seine and the Loing

Rising between Forterre and Puisaye, and after a course of more than 150 kilometres, the Loing flows into the Seine to the south-east of the Forest of Fontainebleau. This rather short route runs alongside these two rivers and the Canal du Loing for much of its length. A section through the forest adds variety to the landscape. The beautiful old Saint-Mammès Church and a few reproductions of paintings by Alfred Sisley add an undeniable touch of heritage to this walk.
