Description of the walk

Start from Dordives station (car park).

(S/E) From the station, follow the D43 westwards for about 250m, keeping to the right-hand side.

(1) Cross the road to enter the former leisure centre (houseboat at the entrance). Walk round the lake on the right-hand side. At the first junction, leave the path round the lake and turn right towards the Glass Museum. On the right, walk alongside an active sand quarry (watch out for lorries coming out!).

(2) At the end of the path, turn right onto the gravel road. Cross the bridge over the Loing and then the one over the canal. Immediately turn right down the towpath heading due north until you reach theGR®®13(marked in white and red).

(3) Follow theGR®® to the left (a slightly steep climb). When you reach the hamlet of Toury, leave theGR®® and turn right, then immediately left onto Rue du Vieux Toury. Join the D32 and follow it to the right (watch out for traffic!) and cross over the A77 motorway.

(4) Then turn right onto a dirt track (the ancient Roman road known as the “Chemin de César”). Follow it for 150m, then turn left to reach the hamlet of Heurtebise (where you’ll rejoin theGR®®13). Follow theGR®® to the left along a tarmac road that descends towards the Moulin de Bigonneau. Before the mill, turn left and then cross through a wood. At the hamlet of Fussellette, turn right and make your way through the fields to the hamlet of Touvent.

(5) Cross the D52 and take the farm track opposite (stillthe GR®®13). After 200m, turn right. Ignore a path branching off to the left and take the next path on the right behind a hedge. When you reach the junction with a tarmac road, leave theGR®® and take the gravel track opposite (west). Follow this track until it meets a small tarmac road. Cross it and take the small path opposite, leading to the small bridge.

(6) Cross the first branch of the Fusain and turn immediately right between the two branches. Follow the path to the Parc de la Tabarderie. This park is very pleasant and offers a beautiful view of the Gallic oppidum that was once Château-Landon. Turn right as you cross a first stream, then a second. When you reach the bank of a branch of the Fusain, rejoin theGR®®13and follow it to the left (do not cross the Fusain). Then turn left and cross another branch of the river. When you reach the bank of another branch of the Fusain, turn right.

(7) Continue straight ahead along the Sentier des Amoureux, pass the municipal washhouse, and follow the river to the D43. Then turn left, cross the bridge, and turn left onto Rue du Bas Larry (leaving theGR®®). Take the steps on the right leading to the southern postern gate; the Saint-Thugal Tower (11th century, the town’s oldest monument) is visible on the right.

(8) Turn left into Rue de la Ville Forte. Once you reach Place du Marché, an esplanade on the left offers a fine view of the Fusain valley. Continue along Rue Jean Galland, which passes in front of the Hôtel Dieu (12th century), then along Rue Charles de Gaulle. Pass seven streets on your right until you reach the Tour Saint-André (12th century) on your left.

(9) Retrace your steps and turn immediately left into Rue Saint-André. At the junction, turn right onto Place Saint-André, then take the first left onto Boulevard Carnot. Turn immediately right into Rue Grande until you reach Rue du Porche (opposite the Porche de la Monnaie, 14th century). Turn left, then right onto Rue de France until you reach the Church of Notre Dame (10th–14th centuries). Turn left onto Rue de Nemours, right onto Rue du Gâtinais, then left onto Rue Albert Ouvre. Then turn left onto Ruelle de Nemours and finally turn right to end up opposite the Madeleine Tower.

(10) At the end of the rampart walk associated with the tower, a passageway with a few steps leads to Rue Moïse; turn left here to rejoin Rue de la Ville forte.

(8) Follow this street to the left towards the care home (the former Abbaye Saint-Séverin) and go round it on the left (you can enter the garden); watch out for the rather steep slope.

(11) Once you reach Rue Saint-Séverin, rejoin theGR®®13and follow it eastwards, ignoring the turn-offs to the left.

(12) After 1,250 m, at a place called “Pont Franc”, leave the road and take a path on the left that climbs up the “Vallée aux Moines”. You’ll come out onto a road; follow it to the right. Enter Mocpoix and walk past the water tower.

(13) Before a sharp bend to the left, leave theGR®® and take the small road to the right. Continue along a steep path which joins the canal towpath. This section can be very muddy and slippery in wet weather (in which case, it is best to stay on theGR®® until you reach the lock, where you rejoin the towpath). Then take the towpath to the right (south).

(14) Cross the Néronville canal bridge and continue along the canal. Pass under the A77 motorway and carry on to the Pont de Dordives.

(15) Leave the canal, go back up onto the bridge, cross the canal and then the River Loing, and continue along the D43.

(1) Continue along the D43 as far as the station (S/E).

A lovely cycle ride through varied countryside.
The route is well signposted, so you can’t go wrong.
No significant difficulties, just a few moderate hills that are easy to tackle.
It’s a lovely, peaceful interlude that takes us back to the history of Château-Landon.
Well done.

Beautiful views of the rivers, pleasant walk on the boardwalk in Tabarderie Park and a view of the old town from above. One disappointment was St André Tower (private property), which is only visible when the gate is open (not all the time).

Although overall the hike is good, in our opinion there are too many sections on roads (which are very quiet).
The most enjoyable parts are the walk through the former Dordives leisure centre surrounded by lakes, exploring the wetlands in Tabardère Park and along the Loing River at the foot of Château-Landon. Although Château-Landon has a rich medieval heritage, the town itself is of little interest, but there is a beautiful view of the valley.
Regarding the description of the route, a few points need to be clarified:
(1) ...turn right towards the glass museum (?) -> turn right onto a wide path closed off by a barrier with light blue markings
(2) until you reach the GR 13 -> there is a small mark on the ground: a light blue cross, as the GR markings are not very visible from the path
(11) ...join the GR13 and follow it east -> turn left
(12) then turn right towards Pont Franc (and walk for about 1250m)

The first hike after two months of lockdown. Superb!
The Dordives ponds are so beautiful it brings tears to your eyes, literally. Crossing the Loing (which was quite rough that Tuesday) via a tiny bridge between 2 and 3 is perhaps the most beautiful part of the walk.
Then the route through the fields to Château Landon is pleasant, and the view of the village from below, on arrival at 6, is poignant. Between 6 and 8, the park was more or less closed (due to lockdown), but it wasn't clear and I went through anyway. Otherwise, there was very little traffic on the small alternative road.
The village lives up to its promise and is well worth a visit.
On the way back, I was a little short on time to catch the train, so I headed towards Souppes sur Loing, leaving the route at 11, which shortened the route. The journey along the road is then unpleasant. You can leave the Souppes road via a small path on the right, clearly marked on the map, 2.3 km from point 11 (GPS 48.17, 2.71), and join the Loing canal. The arrival in Souppes and the village itself are magnificent.

A beautiful and varied route. We got off to a difficult start and lost our way at the starting point. It is important not to miss a path with a 1.70 m barrier and to take it. We got lost again in Chateau Landon but managed to find our way back. A beautiful route.

We did this hike last Sunday and I really didn't enjoy it very much. Too many deserted fields with nothing interesting to look at, and Château-Landon doesn't have any monuments worth getting excited about. A rather boring hike.

A very pleasant walk, very well signposted.
Two magical moments: Château Landon and its grounds, then the banks of the Loing Canal.
Not to be missed

A very pleasant and varied hike, and a visit to Chateau-Landon is very interesting, as this village has many interesting monuments. The views are beautiful.
The Tabarderie park is a lovely place for a picnic.
We also had a few questions at point 11, but we found the right path without any problems.

A pleasant hike in the sunshine on dry paths.
Difficulty reaching the motorway from the ring road meant we started the walk late.
The rich heritage of Château-Landon is well worth a visit.
The Tabarderie park is ideal for a picnic.

We did this hike in dry, beautiful weather. In autumn, the colours are beautiful and the sun is less intense. It is a very diverse route, following waterways, passing through small villages, crossing fields and exploring Chateau Landon in detail. We had a few minor issues finding our way at point 11, as the explanations there are brief and there are few signs indicating street names or place names. However, there is no risk of getting lost. Thank you for this hike!
