Château Landon circular loop

The walk starts at Souppes-sur-Loing station, coming from Paris Gare de Lyon, Train N towards Montargis. If arriving by car, you can park at Place de la République, near the (2).

(S/E) Leave the station and head right onto Rue Paul Rollin. Go to the roundabout, take the road on the right to cross over the railway line, then continue right onto Rue Pasteur towards Place de la Bourse du Travail.

(1) Turn left onto Rue de la République, pass Place de la République, in front of the Église Saint-Clair-Saint-Léger and the large car park, which can serve as a starting point if you are arriving by car.

(2) At the end of Place de la République, turn right to walk alongside the École Élémentaire du Centre and go down the steps to reach the Loing. Turn left to follow the river, passing a sports ground and a playground.

(3) Continue straight on along the banks of the Loing, past the Camping Car Park, to reach the Souppes-sur-Loing Leisure Centre.

(4) Continue straight ahead between the centre and the Loing.

(5) At the end of the pond, make a first turn left then right and join a road at the visitor centre.

(6) Take the road on the right and go round a pond on Chemin des Presloings. Continue to the junction where there is a small car park.

(7) Turn right, reach the Écluse des Grands Moulins and cross the bridge over the Loing via Rue du Moulin Foulon. Turn right onto the street, then left to cross the lock.

(8) Turn left, continuing to follow the Loing and the canal to lock no. 7 at Néronville.

(9) Continue straight on along the canal, following the Greenway.

(10) Go under the A77 bridge and join the D43 at the Pont de Dordives.

(11) Cross carefully (no pedestrian crossing) and continue straight on to the next bridge.

(12) Leave the canal on the right just before the Moulin de Nançay, then turn immediately right into the woods onto the Route de Château Landon (D32) and reach the entrance to the Château de Toury.

(13) Continue straight on for about 200 m, then turn onto the path on the left. Walk past a residential area on your right and, at the edge of the woods, turn right. Note the Château de Toury and the chapel on the left. Continue through the fields, then turn left at the next junction and head straight on to the hamlet of Pithurin.

(14) Turn right, cross the bridge over the A77 and follow the road to the junction at the hamlet of Les Gauthiers. Turn left (D43) and join Rue de la Cave Calot on the left.

(15) Take this road, then, at the car park, turn right and cross the small bridge over the Fusain. Continue straight on, skirting the Parc de la Tabarderie, until you reach the river Fusain. Turn right and head for the second footbridge.

(16) Take this, then climb the stairs on the left, cross Rue du Bas Larry and continue straight ahead onto Rue Notre-Dame. At the Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption in Château Landon, take the D207 on the right towards Place du Marché.

(17) At this square, turn left onto Rue Hetzel, pass the Tourist Office, then turn right at Place d'Hirschhorn. Pass the Parking du Mail, then, at the Town Hall, turn left onto Rue Moise and follow it to the end.

(18) Cross the road and, almost opposite, take the stairs down to the street below. Turn left (Rue du Bas Larry) and at the roundabout, turn right onto the D43. Cross the two bridges over the Fusain and look for a path on the left just after them.

(19) Follow it, walking alongside the Fusain for about 500 m, then take the footbridge on the left.

(20) At the crossroads (Rue des Martins), at no. 24, turn right, pass the Moulin de Gilliet, leave Château-Landon and head straight on to the sewage treatment plant.

(21) Turn left onto the Vallée des Moines. At the water tower, continue straight ahead and cross through Mocpoix. At the three-way junction, keep right as you go downhill and reach the lock and the Grands Moulins. Continue straight on, following the greenway to the next bridge over the canal.

(22) Turn right (D207), cross the bridges over the Loing and reach Rue Victor Hugo on the right, at the corner of No. 29.

(23) Follow this street to reach Place de la Bourse du Travail.

(1) Continue straight on along Rue Pasteur, then head left towards the roundabout, crossing over the railway tracks. Take the street on the left to return to the station (S/E).
