To reach the “Dame Jouanne-Maunoury" car park coming from "La Chapelle la Reine" take:
- D104 for 3.5 km, past the village of Besonville and over the motorway, then take the small road on the right which is 1 km from the motorway, this is Rue Dame Jouanne,
- 1.5 km after Rue Dame Jouanne turn right at the fork, and after 2 km you will arive at the Dame Jouanne car park facing Chalet Jobert (a hotel and restaurant).
Start the hike at Chalet Jobert.
(S) Take the westerly direction, the path opposite the cottage, follow the blue markings, the path is well marked, for 200 m. Just after the curve turn left for 100 m.
(1) At the junction, turn right on the road 450 m. At the T-junction, turn left and then right after 120 m.
(2) Turn right on Chemin de la Chapelle la Reine. After a hundred metres, turn left. Follow the blue markings for about 1 km.
(3) Turn right on Route de Blomont and follow the Blue markings for 1 km to be facing with “Mont Blanc”: a sand dune culminating at 112 metres.
(4) Continue on the Blue trail for 400 m. Turn left and, after 150 m turn right and continue for 220m (small hill).
(5) At the junction with the GR13 turn left (Red-White and Blue markings are superimposed).
(6) At the Grottes au Fer caves, head down the path to the right and follow the Blue markings for 1 km. Thus reaching the Rocher de l’Éléphant (so called because of its shape reminiscent of a pachyderm).
(7) Turn right on the GR13 (Red and White markings) for 100 m, turn left on the GR13 for 350 m and then right for a further 180 m. Turn left on Chemin la Chapel la Reine in Larchant and follow it for 150 m.
(8) Turn right on Chemin de Bois Hyver and follow id for approximately 200 m. Turn left and, after 200 m, leaving the Blue markings and follow the GR markings to the right for 400 m.
(1) Continue straight and, after a few hundred metres, turn right to return to the starting point.
