Description of the walk

Start on Rue de la Forêt, below the church, where theGR®®13passes through. Markings: horizontal red and white stripes.

(S) Head southwards downhill, cross the first junction, continue along Rue Neuve; after passing Rue des Sources, take a path on the right.

(1) Follow this path, cross Rue de la Fontaine and take the path opposite. Continue along Chemin du Pavé (large stones on the ground).

(2) At the top, as you emerge from the woods, take the path opposite between the fields, heading towards the triangulation point and a water tower on the right. Continue until you reach the junction with the road.

(3) Turn right onto the road. Cross Rue de Nemours (Stop sign).

(4) Continue along the Chemin de la Vallée d’Olibon, reach Le Coudray (C9) and follow Rue de Glandelles to the right for about fifty metres.

(5) Take the path on the left just before the house. Continue for a long stretch through the woodland. At the clearing, take the path on the left opposite the first house and continue alongside the D607 (formerly the RN7) via Rue des Eaux until you reach the D607 in Souppes-sur-Loing.

(6) Cross the D607 and continue diagonally along Impasse du Tacot near the Emprunt wildlife park, then join Rue Hoche via the steps on the right. Head left, following the railway line, and join Rue du 21 Août.

(7) Turn right and cross the railway line, then join Rue Voltaire on the left and follow it to the church.

(8) At the square, turn right and then immediately left onto the street and the little Sentier des Amours. At the end, continue right along the Sentier des Varennes, cross a stream to reach Rue des Varennes. Turn left.

(9) Take the path immediately on the right after crossing the railway line. Continue alongside the railway line and then a body of water on the other side. When you reach the Loing, climb the embankment on the right to cross the river via the metal bridge, then cross the Canal du Loing. At the end of the bridge, turn left onto the towpath (be careful not to fall into the canal – the descent is short and steep). Follow the towpath with the canal on your left until you reach the Égreville Lock.

(10) After passing this lock, turn right onto the road leading uphill to the hamlet of Mocpoix. Take Rue de la Louvetière.

(11) At the water tower, carry straight on. On leaving Mocpoix, before the big bend, take the grassy path on the left and carry straight on down below.

(12) Continue to the right along Rue de Pont Franc.

(13) Let the road branch off to the left and take the Chemin de Pont Franc on the right. At the top, you can see the bell tower of the Church of Notre-Dame de Château Landon. Join the Route de Mocpoix coming from the right, head down towards Château Landon and walk alongside the former Basilica of Saint-Séverin.

(14) At the roundabout, turn left onto the D43. Cross the river ‘Le Fusain’ and immediately turn right onto the path that runs alongside the river via the Sentier des Amoureux until you reach the playground. Go through the gate.

(15) At the next culvert, which is a continuation of Rue de la Tabarderie, take the path running perpendicular to the river to reach and cross a footbridge opposite and slightly to the right over another branch of the river, leading onto Rue de la Cave Calot. After 200m, leave the road and take the path on the right, pass the houses on the left and continue across the plateau along the path to join the Route de Pithurin.

(16) Take this road to the right and, at the next junction, take the path to the left, then left again to cross the D52. Walk alongside the Touvent farm along the path to reach Fusselette.

(17) After the bend in front of the house, take the path on the left, join a road and head up to the right towards Heurtebise.

(18) At the first house on the left, take the path leading down in front of it, to the left, to reach the D43 road. Turn right onto Rue du Pont de César. Pass through Neronville and continue along the D43. Before the bend, take the path on the left at the ‘Neronville’ sign, and join the towpath of the Canal du Loing.

(19) Pass under the A77 motorway bridge and, before the lock, reach the Pont de Dordives and the D43 road (E).

Thanks, ovil, for your message; it’s great to see you on this hike again.
Following your comment, I’ve corrected the incorrect direction given in the description.
The GR 13 is a trail somewhat overlooked by hikers but still well maintained by the trail markers.
In fact, the FFR no longer publishes a guidebook for this GR.
Unfortunately, many sections follow the road network.
Have a good walk towards the eternal hill if you fancy it!

We set off from Bagneaux-sur-Loing station and walked to Poligny via the GR 13. We started our return journey from Dordives station.
The GR signposting appears to be recent and is clearly visible.
We had a moment’s hesitation in Souppes, where there is currently roadworks (construction of a building on Rue des Amours and resurfacing along the church) which obscures the entrance to the path.
There is an error in the route description: at the end of the Sentier des Amours, you must turn right, not left, to reach Rue des Varennes.
A walk with no difficulties other than the two sections mentioned, which require a little care.
Crossing the Loing via the railway bridge is an added attraction.
The walk through Neronville along the D 43 is tedious.
