Description of the walk

You can leave your vehicle just after the Dordives Bridge in the bend of the hamlet: there are a few spaces. Leave a vehicle at the finish point in Nemours, Place Hippolyte Bayard, for the return journey.

(S) Head towards the bridge, turn left and follow the Canal du Loing: signposted for cyclists Nemours - Souppes-sur-Loing.

(1) Pass under the A77 motorway bridge and continue on the Greenway. There are a few picnic tables available just before the Néronville lock. A little further on, you will notice that the Loing and the canal meet. Continue to the second lock.

(2) Cross the two footbridges at the Grands Moulins lock and you will arrive at a car park.

(3) Turn left and walk along the marshes and ponds.

(4) Turn left and cross through a wood, then take the path on the left to follow the Loing on your left with the Souppes-sur-Loing leisure centre on your right.

(5) Pass the kayak and canoe rental shop, then go under the bridge. Then head left to continue following the Loing and you will come to a road to follow, keeping in the same direction. Pass a campsite, a playground and then a stadium, which you go around on the right, following the Loing to the École Élémentaire du Centre primary school.

(6) Leave the Loing and head towards the post office in Souppes-sur-Loing. Take the street on the left to reach the Place de la République with its church. Walk along the car park and arrive at the café-tobacconist.

(7) Take Rue Voltaire on the left and follow it straight ahead until you reach the stop sign. Turn right onto Rue du 21 Août, cross the level crossing and continue for about 50 metres.

(8) Take Rue Hoche on the left, walk along the railway line and continue to the big bend. Go up the earth and wooden steps on the right of Impasse Tacot and continue to the junction with Avenue du Maréchal Leclerc (D607).

(9) Cross carefully at the pedestrian crossing, backtrack a little to the left and then take Rue des Eaux with the GR®13.

(10) Cross the road and continue straight ahead on the path that slopes to the right and enters the undergrowth of the Vallée d'Olibon. Arrive at Le Coudray.

(11) Take Rue de Glandelles on the left to cross the hamlet, leave it, then stay on this road which crosses the fields and arrives at the hamlet of Chamault. Turn left at the three-way junction at the exit, follow Route du Coudray through the fields and arrive at Glandelles.

(12) Turn left, staying on Route du Coudray, which further on becomes Route des Poudingues. Continue to the stop sign at the junction with Route de Glandelles (D607).

(13) Cross with caution: there is no protected crossing. Turn left and follow the road until you reach a barely visible path on the right to cross the Chevron bridge: view of the Moulin de Glandelles. Join the Canal du Loing.

(14) Descend on the right towards the Moulin de Glandelles, without crossing the bridge. Pass in front of a pumping station via the Voie Verte, following the Loing, pass under the D40 bridge and continue straight on along the towpath parallel to the Chemin des Pâtures.

(15) Continue straight ahead along the canal on Chemin des Grèves, pass in front of the Henry Aubourg Municipal Stadium and arrive at the lock.

(16) Continue along the towpath, then pass the drinking water plant on your left on the other side of the canal and the pumping station on your right.

(17) Continue along the narrow strip of land that separates the Canal du Loing from the Loing itself and stay on the greenway until you reach the bridge leading to Île du Perthuis.

(18) Cross this bridge, take Rue Sanson and continue to Place Dupont de Nemours:the Moulin de Nemours is on the right. Ask for visiting hours. Continue straight on Rue Gautier 1er: the castle and museum are on the right. Cross Place de la République and you will come out on Rue de Paris at the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste.

(19) Take the street on the left, arrive at the Mairie de Nemours and turn left again to retrieve your vehicle at Place Hippolyte Bayard (E).
