Le Trelod via Dent de Pleuven
360° view of the Bauges Massif from the summit of Trélod.Arrange for a car at the finish point.
Mont Julioz from Le Châtelard
An easy hike in the heart of Les Bauges, but you will need to take your hands out of your pockets for certain sections along the ridge. Panoramic views of the surrounding peaks: Trélod, Dent de Pleuven, Dent des Portes, Mont Colombier.
Crossing Mont Julioz from Le Châtelard
A medium-altitude mountain in the heart of Les Bauges, offering a beautiful ridge walk and, in good weather, views of the main peaks of the massif.
Mont Julioz from Doucy
This hike involves climbing Mont Julioz from its eastern slope. The first two parts of the route, along a track and then a winding path, are not difficult. The last part, on a rocky, shaded ridge, requires attention and a good sense of direction. You can go all the way to the summit or stop at a nearby secondary summit: from both places, the view of the surrounding valleys and peaks is superb.
Mont Trélod
Hike to reach one of the 14 "2000" peaks in the Bauges massif, where you can enjoy a superb 360° panorama.
Rochers de la Bade
Superb crossing of the north to south ridge of the Rocher de la Bade (Bauges Massif).
Sentier des Maîtres du Mont Déserté
A hike in three circular loops and a few return trips, following in the footsteps of the master geologists who fought against the mudslides that swept through Le Châtelard in the past. There are also some beautiful views.
Tour of Mont Julioz
Hike in all seasons, with a mix of wild trails, forest roads and village crossings.
The Col de Chérel
Discover a pass in Les Bauges whose distinctive feature is that it separates the Arcalod range from the Trélod range, two of the main peaks in Les Bauges.
This route is identical for a walking hike.
Variation of the Col du Chérel on snowshoes
This easy walk has already been described by Bernardino, so the following is only a variation.
There are no specific markings for snowshoes; the summer markings are sufficient.
La Croix d'Allant from Précherel
A short, easy hike to discover the Allant mountain pasture.
La Croix du Plane from Montlardier
This is a little-used hike that takes you to the fragile Croix du Plane, anchored on its isolated rock. From the surrounding mountain pastures, you can admire the panorama of some of the legendary peaks of Les Bauges. While the route along the track and the shortcuts that allow you to cut across the switchbacks are fairly obvious, in the mountain pastures you will need to have a good sense of direction and not hesitate to use your compass.
Map of La Limace via the Croix d'Allant
An easy walk in the Bauges to discover the mountain pastures.
Beautiful views of the region's peaks.
Tarines and Abondances await you.
Snowshoes at the Fullie chalets.
A lovely little snowshoe hike to the Chalets de la Fullie from Ecole en Bauges.
All the more beautiful when there is plenty of snow.
The route is well marked with no difficulty in finding your way.
Notre-Dame de Bellevaux via the forest house
This is a very accessible hike that takes you to the Chapel of Notre-Dame de Bellevaux, passing by the old forest house.
Le Reposoir - Refuge de la Combe
This hike can be done either:
- as a day trip,
- or as part of a longer hike (first stage of the circular route: Around Charbon Mountain). It was during this tour that it was completed.
Around the Charbon mountain
This circular route includes an overnight stay at the Combe refuge, where children will enjoy the end of the day at the farm-refuge (herding the flock with dogs, milking, etc.) and parents will enjoy tartiflette made with sheep's cheese. The next day's stage, which is longer than the previous day's, can only be completed with children who are not only motivated but who have already hiked in the mountains (I have personally hiked with children aged 7, 9 and 11).
Montagne du Charbon - Pointe de Banc Plat
A lovely getaway in the Bauges mountains, with a round trip to the Pointe de Banc Plat (one of the two main peaks of the Montagne du Charbon). Although not very high, the Pointe de Banc Plat offers a remarkable panoramic view (the Montagne du Charbon is the northern part of the Trelod chain). The forest trail at the foot of the Montagne du Charbon is splendid.
Roc du Four Magnin
This summit (1,645 m) is little known in Les Bauges. The route is partly aerial and off-trail, requiring you to tackle a few rocks without too much difficulty. The summit offers views of Les Bauges, La Tournette, Lake Annecy, Mont Blanc and more.
Tour of Montagne du Charbon, via Banc Plat and Dent des Portes
A beautiful, long circular loop around Montagne du Charbon. Starting from Petit Reposoir (Bellecombe-en-Bauges), climb to Col de Bornette then take the path carved into the cliff. At the Refuge de la Combe, climb to the Pointe de Banc-Plat for your first 360° viewpoint, descend to the Chalets du Rosay and Planay, then climb up the opposite side to the Charbonnet. Follow the ridge to climb the Dent des Portes, your second 360° viewpoint, before returning via the classic route through the Golet de Doucy.
Le Crêt du Char via the Col de Bornette
This is a snowshoe hike on safe and easily accessible slopes; only the last slope is steeper and more difficult if there is no trail. The view along the ridge is extensive, over Les Bauges, Les Bornes and Belledonne in the distance.
Char Trail for Snowshoeing and Circular Trail.
This is a lovely route with beautiful views, which can be enjoyed in both summer and winter.
It can be done in either direction.
This is a very popular area.
Le Roc de Four Magnin
This is an extension of the snowshoe circuit described this winter.
The Roc de Four Magnin is not named on IGN maps, but the 1645m point is marked.
If necessary, here are its GPS coordinates: UTM E 0280 525; N 5069 500.
Snowshoeing via Golet de Doucy and Col de Bornette
A pleasant snowshoe route, which often offers varied views in open terrain.
The Pecloz and Armenaz mountains
A beautiful, challenging circular route that takes you to two of the 14 2,000-metre peaks in the Bauges massif, Mont Pécloz and Mont d'Armenaz. The climb up to the pass separating the two peaks is quite steep, but you'll be accompanied by chamois. Once you reach the summit, Mont Pécloz offers a 360° view of the Alps. The descent is popular with ski tourers in winter.
The Col d'Arclusaz
A beautiful outing in the Arclusaz valley, dominated by some of the beautiful peaks of the Bauges.
The autumn colours are beginning to set the landscape ablaze.
Mont Pécloz and Mont d'Arménaz loop
The most beautiful of the Baujus peaks! Loop hike Mont Pecloz 2197m and Mont d'Armenaz 2158m.
Please note: The descent from Mont Pécloz is rather tricky (exposure to rockfalls + some passages requiring the use of your hands).
Arcalod-Mont de la Coche circular from Bellevaux
This is a beautiful circular that allows you to see three sides of Arcalod, climb to the summit via Orgeval and descend via a wilder route. It is a demanding but magnificent hike in good weather.
Please note that access to the Pointe d'Arcalod is not recommended with children or in wet weather.
