After passing through Doussard and Chevaline, follow the Combe d'Ire for about 4 km until you reach the barrier restricting access to forestry workers. Car park and sign with map.
(S/E) Follow the path southwards; Pointe de Banc Plat is indicated as a 3 hour 50 minute walk. The climb is straight, steady but quite steep through the forest to the Fontaine de Fayard and its hut (water source).
(1) Continue straight ahead (west) on the path, which climbs rapidly with sharp bends, first through the forest and then through the mountain pastures to the Planay chalets.
(2) A break is welcome to catch your breath and enjoy the magnificent landscape.
The route continues northwards through the mountain pastures, offering unobstructed views of the Pointe de Banc Plat ridge, which we follow until we reach the Chalet du Charbon.
(3) Then turn left (north) towards elevation 1720. Make a left turn and continue southwest, climbing steadily and quite steeply to the summit.
(4) The summit offers a beautiful view of the end of the lake and, among other things, the Mont Blanc range, the Tournette massif and Arcalod. The descent follows the same route as the ascent to the crossroads above the Charbon chalet.
(3) Take the path on the left towards this chalet, pass it and follow the route through the mountain pasture (yellow and red markings) and then into the forest. Join a forest path (altitude approx. 1400m).
(5) Take this path on the left. A long, comfortable descent with long bends leads to the Fontaine de Fayard crossroads.
(1) Turn left and continue down the path with a steep, straight slope to the car park (S/E).
