Snowshoes at the Fullie chalets.

A lovely little snowshoe hike to the Chalets de la Fullie from Ecole en Bauges.
All the more beautiful when there is plenty of snow.
The route is well marked with no difficulty in finding your way.

Description of the walk

Go to Ecole en Bauges and park beyond the Les Landagnes stopover lodge. GPS 32T 278 900; 5059 300

(S) The trail starts right next to a small water treatment plant. It begins as a wide path, which you leave after 200 metres; a sign indicates the direction to follow: Les Aillons - La Fullie.
The trail is then clearly marked in yellow and red, sometimes punctuated with red and white markings specific toGR® trails. All you have to do is follow the trail.
The trail climbs through the forest and then emerges at an altitude of 1,000 metres in the small clearing of the Saint Bernard chapel.

(1) Shortly after the chapel, leave the path on the right that leads to La Compôte; junction with theGR® 96. In fact, just follow the main direction.
At an altitude of 1,300 metres, the trail opens onto a mountain pasture.

(2) The Col de la Fullie is not far away. The chalets of the same name are a little higher up and will soon appear on the ridge. To reach them, head southwest. Reach the chalets.

(3) Turn back, as further on the path is dominated by the slopes of Mont Colombier, and an avalanche could quickly occur.
Return by the same route in the opposite direction and return to the car park (E).

A lovely hike to start your holiday or recharge your batteries between two long hikes.

Snowshoes weren't essential, as the first third of the route was snow-free. Then there were a few frozen patches where crampons made the climb easier. The final section was well covered in snow and therefore magnificent in the sunshine.
A beautiful hike despite being mostly in the forest. The view once you reach the Fullie chalets is truly stunning, and it's a very pleasant place to have a picnic.
There were lots of hikers (holidays!), some coming from the Aillons resort. The alternative route from La Compôte was not "marked", but it is a very shady route.
Pompon.

Nice hike... but a bit too much forest for my taste... so not enough sunshine...

I didn't meet anyone in mid-April. I returned to the Fullie chalets via La Compote, which allowed me to make a nice circular loop. There was a lot of snow at the top and I saw a deer. It's easily accessible without snowshoes (poles are recommended).
It's impossible to get lost. It's perfect!

A beautiful hike, with a surprise! There was still a lot of snow in the upper reaches. The panoramic view was superb.
Didn't meet a soul ... but then again, it was a Friday.

A beautiful hike; we put on our snowshoes halfway to the magnificent little Saint Bernard chapel.
A 2 hour 50 minute climb, taking our time. Return in 1 hour 20 minutes.
Magnificent view for lunch at the chalets.
Elevation gain of 690 m according to the GPS.

Good evening

Thank you for your comment. I am not familiar with your alternative route for the return journey.
I didn't dare try it on my own with snowshoes.

We set off from the Landagnes lodge, where we spent four days. This lodge is highly recommended for hiking in the Bauju region. The welcome, service and food are all excellent, allowing hikers to really enjoy their stay.
The walk to the chalets is an excellent warm-up. We made our way back by taking the path on the right at a place called Le Sauget. The path is poorly cleared at the top at the moment, but the rest of the walk through the forest is very pleasant.
