Ussel (Corrèze) walks

A mini-hike to discover the historic centre of the small medieval town of Ussel.

A complete circular route that goes around the Priory of Saint-Michel des Anges, passing through different landscapes and crossing the Triouzoune valley. Two variations allow you to shorten the main route if necessary.

A family hike starting from the Notre-Dame du Deveix Chapel, taking forest paths to the hamlet of Bonnessaigne, where you can look for reused stones on the villagers' houses that once belonged to an old abbey.

An easy walk from the Jassonneix monastery, a landmark in Meymac, to Mont Bessou, the highest point in Limousin (1,000 metres if you include the panoramic tower). The walk follows forest paths and a quiet road.

Near Meymac, Mont Bessou (976 m) is the highest point of the Millevaches Plateau. From the top of its observation tower at just under 1,000 metres, the view is simply magnificent. This hike takes you there via the Vézère springs through the Longéroux peat bogs at the foot of Puy Pendu.

Set off to explore this trail, which will take you to the Roc Grand viewpoint via the Saut de Juillac and a view of the Monts du Cantal. You can also discover one of the most beautiful views of the Gorges de la Dordogne, with almost 180° visibility. If you're lucky, you may see a bird of prey flying over the gorges.

A circular in the heart of the Corrèze forest, starting with a view of the church's free-standing bell tower, unique in France, and the wrought iron sculptures surrounding the monument. Set off to explore the deciduous and coniferous woods, listening to the sounds of the trees and birds, and if you're lucky, you may even encounter some wild animals.

Starting from the village of Chavanac, with its charming granite buildings, set off to explore a vast and peaceful natural site: the Longeyroux bog, where you can see and hear a multitude of things.

A circular route with some slightly technical sections, but a detour that is well worth it to reach the Triouzoune and the remains of an old power station dating from 1910, which has been replaced by a dam upstream.

You will walk through the Longeyroux peat bog, where you will discover the sources of the Vézère river, in which you can take a dip. You can also follow a discovery trail through the peat bog with educational information boards.

This hike, starting from the village of Millevaches, will take you to Chavanac, a restored village with a beautiful Romanesque church and stone houses.

Set off on a family walk to explore the forest trails of the commune of Neuvic, passing through a few hamlets and, with a bit of luck, perhaps encountering some forest wildlife.

This trail is part of the Millevaches trails, allowing you to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature in the Millevaches Regional Nature Park. Pass through herds of cows and sensitive natural areas. Remain calm. Respect the areas you pass through.

Set off along the forest paths to discover the five ponds in the commune of Lamazière-Basse: the ponds of Viers, Montsour, Ganes, Grenouiller and Trompette.

A bucolic hike around the charming village of Saint-Hilaire-Luc, passing by the Près Clos and an old wash house frozen in time, walking in figure eights through woods and meadows.

A short, easy, shaded circular walk from Cheyssac (in the commune of Vebret in Cantal) to the Saut de la Saule, a steep-sided gorge on the Rhue. The Rhue is a tributary of the Dordogne that separates Cantal and Corrèze (and therefore Auvergne from Limousin) near Bort-Les-Orgues.
