Ussel (Corrèze) walks

A mini-hike to discover the historic centre of the small medieval town of Ussel.

A complete circular route that goes around the Priory of Saint-Michel des Anges, passing through different landscapes and crossing the Triouzoune valley. Two variations allow you to shorten the main route if necessary.

A route through the pine woods starting from the village of Saint-Angel. A circular route mostly on trails, surrounded by the pine trees typical of the Haute-Corrèze, which begins at the magnificent 12th-century priory.

Mini-hike in the small town of Meymac, the birthplace of Bordeaux wine merchants.

A family hike starting from the Notre-Dame du Deveix Chapel, taking forest paths to the hamlet of Bonnessaigne, where you can look for reused stones on the villagers' houses that once belonged to an old abbey.

An easy walk from the Jassonneix monastery, a landmark in Meymac, to Mont Bessou, the highest point in Limousin (1,000 metres if you include the panoramic tower). The walk follows forest paths and a quiet road.

Near Meymac, Mont Bessou (976 m) is the highest point of the Millevaches Plateau. From the top of its observation tower at just under 1,000 metres, the view is simply magnificent. This hike takes you there via the Vézère springs through the Longéroux peat bogs at the foot of Puy Pendu.

Set off to explore this trail, which will take you to the Roc Grand viewpoint via the Saut de Juillac and a view of the Monts du Cantal. You can also discover one of the most beautiful views of the Gorges de la Dordogne, with almost 180° visibility. If you're lucky, you may see a bird of prey flying over the gorges.

Set off to explore the forest trails along the edge of the Millevaches Regional Nature Park and the banks of the Triouzoune, where you can stop for a picnic.

A walk starting from Les Sapins de Corrèze campsite, in the heart of the woods surrounding the charming hamlet of Chareneuve, leading to a pond – now gone – where the river and nature have reclaimed the area. This walk is very sunny. Take care in hot weather. Parking at the campsite is permitted, but access to the campsite requires permission from the owners.

A short walk for a beautiful view of the Dordogne gorges, at the confluence with the Diège.

A circular in the heart of the Corrèze forest, starting with a view of the church's free-standing bell tower, unique in France, and the wrought iron sculptures surrounding the monument. Set off to explore the deciduous and coniferous woods, listening to the sounds of the trees and birds, and if you're lucky, you may even encounter some wild animals.

A very short round trip walk offering a beautiful view of the Dordogne upstream from the Bort-les Orgues dam and Château de Val.
