Circular through the forests of Palisse

Departure from the private car park outside the "Les Sapins de Corrèze" campsite, where parking is authorised by the campsite owners.

(S/E) Go around the campsite on the left via the communal path, ignoring the path on the left at the crossroads, which is private property.

(1) At the crossroads, take the left-hand path towards Palisse Haute. You will come to a small road; follow it in the same direction to reach the hamlet.

(2) Turn right onto the D47 at the three-way junction.

(3) Turn right onto the wide forest track and head towards Maison Neuve.

(4) At the fork in the forest track and the road, turn right onto the road and continue to the hamlet of Le Bouchaud. Drive through the hamlet and continue to a crossroads where there is a stone cross.

(5) Leave the road and follow the path on the right.

(6) Continue on the left at the three-way junction and walk along the edge of the Millevaches Regional Nature Park until you reach the RD171. Turn left and walk carefully along it for about a hundred metres.

(7) Cross over and take the first path on the right into the forest towards La Triouzoune. Ignore the path on the right and continue to the next intersection.

(8) Take a sharp right onto a forest track: be careful, the track is very rutted on the descent just before reaching Triouzoune.

(9) Continue on the path on the left which descends, continuing to follow the river.

(10) You can make a short detour to the left along the path that joins the Triouzoune. Then rejoin the route.

(11) Take the path on the left, cross a small ford and climb until you reach the edge of the deciduous forest.

(12) Turn left onto the road that leads to a place called Areil.

(13) When you arrive, take the hairpin bend to the right, continue for about 50 metres, then take the path on the left which leads to the D171.

(14) Turn right and drive carefully along this road until you reach a place called Baratout.

(15) Turn left before the containers at the three-way junction in Baratout and take the forest path opposite, without continuing along the dead-end road on the left. You will reach a fork in the road.

(16) Continue to the right towards Route de Champier and join this road.

(17) When you leave the path, turn right to join the D88 and turn left towards Palisse. Walk carefully along the main road, ignore the road on the right and continue for about 200 metres.

(18) Take the forest path on the right and pass the power line to return to the crossroads you passed at the start of the walk.

(1) Continue straight ahead and return to the campsite car park (S/E).

(S/E) Access to the campsite is not permitted for anyone who is not a customer of the campsite.
