(S/E) From the car park at the Meymac holiday village, head south along the edge of Lake Séchemaille.
(1) Turn right and walk along the water sports centre, staying on the path along the lake.
(2) Cross the footbridges at the end of the lake on the left and follow the D76.
(3) At the entrance to the village of Ambrugeat (view of the castle), turn right and take a pleasant path heading north to reach the GR®.
(4) Turn left onto theGR®440, which climbs to the edge of the woods.
(5) At the first crossroads, turn right and walk past the Farges farm.
(6) Cross the Farges stream at the mill of the same name (bed and breakfast). Arrive at the D109, turn right and pass under the railway line.
(7) Take the first path on the left after crossing the railway bridge. The path climbs through the woods and then continues northwards, reaching a place called "Le Bourg" via a path that was very grassy in places when we passed through.
(8) At the entrance to the village, turn left onto the small road that descends to the hamlet of Le Cloup.
(9) Take the beautiful path on the right, heading north-west, which climbs gradually to the D979 E3, offering very pretty views.
(10) Cross the D979 E3 and continue along a superb path, which is almost flat at the beginning and then climbs gently north-northwest to the D979 at an altitude of 916 metres.
(11) Cross the departmental road and continue along the path opposite, which curves north-west through the magnificent undergrowth of the Longéroux national forest.
(12) The flat path passes near Puy du Longéroux, which rises to 933m, and arrives at a major crossroads.
(13) Take the wide path on the right, which heads due east and crosses the Longéroux forest again.
(14) Pass near the sources of the Vézère (on the right). The area is boggy, but the path is raised at this point and the stream passes underneath through a culvert. The path climbs up to a crossroads.
(15) Turn right heading due south and pass near Puy Pendu, the second highest peak in the department at 973m. You will reach the junction with the D979.
(16) Take the small road opposite to Mont Bessou, the highest point on the Millevaches plateau at 976m. Just before the foot of the large tower, leave the tarmac road and take a small path on the left that leads into the woods.
(17) Join an educational trail about mushrooms.
(18) This will take you to the Mont Bessou observation tower. At the top of the tower, after 188 steps, you will be at an altitude of 1,000 metres with a superb view of the region. Then take the road that descends southwards for a long but steady walk to the village of Lavaur.
(19) At the entrance to the hamlet, turn right onto the D979 E3 for a few metres, then left, continuing south to the railway bridge (pretty thatched house).
(20) Cross the railway line and continue south-west on a pleasant path to join theGR®440.
(21) Follow it to the right for 200 metres to reach a crossroads taken on the way out.
(4) Turn left and follow the path you took on the way there to the car park at the end (S/E).
