The Abbesses' Path in Combressol

A family hike starting from the Notre-Dame du Deveix Chapel, taking forest paths to the hamlet of Bonnessaigne, where you can look for reused stones on the villagers' houses that once belonged to an old abbey.

Description of the walk

Park in the small car park at the Notre-Dame du Deveix chapel. Yellow markings.

(S/E) Take the path to the left of the chapel towards the place called La Croix d'Osier.

(1) Look for the return path on the left and continue straight ahead.

(2) At the junction with the D47 at La Croix d'Osier, take the path opposite. Ignore a path on the right, then another on the left, and continue to the bend.

(3) Turn left onto the path, keep to the right at the three-way junction shortly afterwards and continue to Feix Haut, where you will find a traditional well. Continue left towards Feix Bas, where you will join the D100.

(4) Turn left and follow the road carefully for about 700 metres, passing the Ruisseau du Feix stream.

(5) Cut right into the forest to rejoin the D100, avoiding the hairpin bend, and continue straight ahead until you reach the junction with a forest path on the right.

(6) Take the hairpin turn to the right towards Lherm.

(7) At the end of the track, turn left onto the road towards Lherm and cross the locality, keeping generally southbound.

(8) Take a sharp left turn, then a right turn at the next junction. Continue along the road until you reach the second path on the left.

(9) Follow this path to reach the D100 and walk carefully along it for about 300 metres.

(10) Leave the road and take a path on the right, continuing straight ahead until you reach the three-way junction at Loussine.

(11) Turn right at the hairpin bend, then turn left onto the path that passes between two meadows and leads to a crossroads at the corner of a third meadow.

(12) Turn left, then right at the bend to pass through Le Peuch and reach Bonnessagne.

(13) Continue straight on the D47 towards Egletons, pass the entrance to Escurat on the left and take the next path on the right to rejoin the outward route.

(1) Turn right to return to the chapel car park (S/E).
