Mont Saint-Jean circuit
Located in the heart of Burgundy, halfway between Pouilly en Auxois and Saulieu, on the edge of the Morvan and Auxois regions, Mont Saint-Jean is a medieval village whose castle stands 490 m high on a rocky outcrop, overlooking a wide valley through which the Doran and Serein rivers flow. Its highest point rises to 578 metres (Croix Thomas).
On the heights of Mont-Saint-Jean
This short loop marked out in Blue is part of the Auxois lakes routes marked out in Green-Yellow, covering some 200 kilometres.These walking routes are maintained and marked by the 5 markers of the Rando-Gym-Civry association, affiliated to CDRP21.This half-day walk will enable you to discover the pretty medieval village of Mont-Saint-Jean and, from the heights, the beautiful views over the Auxois to the east and the Morvan to the south and west.

Uncey-le-Franc is a small country village, formerly a Templar landmark.
This short hike forms a circular route starting in front of the church at an altitude of 350 metres.
Stories of castles between Missery, Mont-Saint-Jean and Charny
A circular route starting from Missery takes us from an 18th-century château to a 10th-century château in Mont-Saint-Jean (not forgetting its medieval town), passing by the archaeological site of La Grange du Mont (13th century), before a quick stop at La Croisette, or at least its cross, and ending in the charming village of Charny with a glimpse of the remains of its 13th-century castle.
Between Missery and Mont-Saint-Jean
A beautiful walk, without any particular difficulty, which takes you through the pretty villages of Missery and Mont-Saint-Jean, and up to the plateau where there is an archaeological site. The undergrowth is pleasant, with a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees, and the views of the Auxois and Morvan regions are superb. Most of the paths are well shaded and well maintained. This route, which is very well marked in yellow, is also described in the information sheets available from the Précy-sous-Thil Tourist Office.
The Chaume circuit
La Chaume, the highest point (548m) between the upper Ouche valley and the Auxois region, offers beautiful panoramic views.
Buan Forest: Creux de la Pierre
The route is entirely through forest composed of deciduous and coniferous trees. There is a lovely viewpoint over the valley and the hamlets that make up the village of Blangey along the route.Be careful during the hunting season (September to February) when passing near hunting huts!
From one castle to another from La Bussière-Sur-Ouche
A circular route starting from the village of La Bussière-sur-Ouche, linking the châteaux of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, Commarin and L'Oizerolle, running briefly alongside the Panthier reservoir and then, on the return leg, skirting the hamlet of "La Pourrie", a private estate still owned by the family of the Burgundian writer Henri Vincenot. A long but easy route, taking around 8 hours at a normal pace (9 hours if visiting the villages).
Tour of the five balconies overlooking the Gironde valley in Côte-d'Or
The Gironde is a stream that flows into the Ouche at Barbirey-sur-Ouche (Côte-d'Or). Its raging waters have carved out a narrow valley where rocky cliffs alternate with green slopes. The trail starts at the Jaugey wash house, classified as a "remarkable monument", and climbs up to the Roche de s'Laye balcony. It then continues to the Roche de l'Eau balcony and the charming hamlet of La Montagne. It then returns to the Jaugey slope to climb up to its balcony before reaching La Table du Druide.
Vitteaux and Camp Miard
This walk allows you to explore Vitteaux, where several buildings date back to medieval times, as well as Camp Miard (spelled ‘Myard’ on local signs) with its 6,000-year-old remains.
Posanges Castle is also well worth a visit.
From Barbirey-sur-Ouche to the Oizerolles farm via the Marigny hillsides
Nice walk, starting from Barbirey-sur-Ouche, on both sides of the Gyronde valley, to the old Oizerolles farm and back via the Marigny hills.

White-marked route passing through 14 points of interest: evocative rocks, caves, excavations, springs, panoramic views, remains of dry stone buildings, etc.
The large communal lands of Aubaine
A beautiful walk mainly through the forest, with numerous buildings (wash houses, wells, etc.) taking us back in time. Panoramic views of the Ouche valley punctuate our route.
The trail is marked in yellow throughout.
Old Saint-Pierre route from Lacanche
A very pleasant route, mostly through woodland, marked in yellow.
Lacanche is a former working-class town, built around the SIL factory (bought by Seb in 2024-2025). You can stroll through the streets to discover this unique architecture and perhaps visit the church (key available at the Town Hall).
In the footsteps of the Templars
This beautiful walk will not only take you through beautiful countryside, but will also take you on a journey through time, from the Order of Malta to the 2nd World War.The highlight is the Templar church in Echarnant, built in the 12th century and located on the road to Compostela, which is why the Templars settled here.
Source of the Ouche and Maquis Cave
This hike along the Ouche springs is varied, alternating between valleys and hills overlooking the Ouche valley. It takes you through the charming village of Lusigny-sur-Ouche with its bridges and wash houses. The Ouche, formed by seven sources, the main one being Presles in Lusigny, winds its way through the upper valley. It then flows into Lake Kir in Dijon, crosses Dijon and flows into the Saône near Saint-Jean-de-Losne after 95 km.
Circular wind turbine loop starting from Trouhaut
This route, starting from Trouhaut, climbs up Mont Tasselot and continues to La Rochotte, passing at the foot of several wind turbines. It then returns towards Fromenteau, passing close to another group of wind turbines, before descending back to Trouhaut.
N.B. It is also possible to do the wind turbine route without going via Trouhaut, for example by starting from Fromenteau.
