Lake and hillsides of Lizet
To the east of Montesquiou, Lake Lizet, created to meet the water needs of Gascony, is home to numerous birds. Forming part of the Natura 2000 site, the hillsides overlooking it are among the richest and most remarkable in the Gers. As you head up through the woods, you will join the Way of St James and admire the unspoilt Gers countryside.
Grand tour of the Lizet Reservoir
A very pleasant walk with no major difficulty, offering views of Lake (Reservoir) du Lizet and the Gascon hillsides.
Lasséran citizenship trail
A loop with varied landscapes alternating between paths, tracks and trails. This route is designed to be educational, with each kilometre punctuated by a message about respect, difference, tolerance and secularism, making it an educational trail to share with children. Throughout the hike, there are designated rest areas (don't forget your picnic), views of the Pyrenees mountain range, and a pleasant loop to enjoy with family or friends.
The path to the Durban mill
Starting from Orbessan, this circular route will take you on a journey of discovery through the rural heritage, such as the monumental fountain in Orbessan and the working windmill in Durban with its bread oven and bakery. There are some beautiful views of the Gers countryside and, in Durban, a 360° panorama. There is a bit of tarmac but very little traffic.

Pink October 2023 in Monferran Plaves
This walk, organised by the Monferran Plaves festival committee, will take place on Sunday 8 October 2023.
Suitable for everyone, including families, with participants walking at their own pace, this 8 km walk offers a route alternating between paths, trails and roads, with a cumulative elevation gain and loss of approximately 160 metres. It can be shortened, if necessary, by returning to the village after 5 km, at the marker (6) on the map.
A partnership has been established with the Gers Cancer League as part of the ‘Pink October’ campaign to support breast cancer prevention and the fight against the disease.
A voluntary contribution of at least €3, to be donated to the League, will be requested at the start.
Refreshments will be available at the marker (6) on the map.
