On the path to Lizet

Start from the plane tree car park on the banks of the Petite Baïse.

(S/E) Turn right onto Avenue du Bourguignon and cross the Petite Baïse bridge. Walk through the village of L’Isle-de-Noé. Continue straight on along Avenue des Tilleuls, crossing the Baïse bridge.

(1) Continue on the D943 and ignore a road on the right. At a nursery, leave the road and follow a tarmac path to the left. Pass in front of an old wash house.

(2) Immediately turn right onto an uphill tarmac track. Pass the turn-off to the hamlet of Couget on your left.

(3) Pass the turn-off to the hamlet of Peyret on your left and continue westwards along a footpath. Ignore a turn-off to the right, then cross through a wood.

(4) Cross a road and follow the stony path opposite. Walk around the house at Cadiran de Haut.

(5) Turn right onto the downhill path. Head west and pass the old Linsolle farm.

(6) At the end of the path, turn left onto a tarmac road and leave the^GR®653.

(7) When the road turns right, continue straight on along the stony path which climbs up to the embankment of the Lizet Reservoir. Continue straight on, keeping the lake on your right.

(8) After about 750 m, leave the lakeside and follow a path due west towards the forest. The path climbs then winds its way down towards the edge of the forest until it meets a dirt track.

(9) Turn left onto this dirt track, which leads along the ridge to a junction with a path heading downhill to the right.

(10) Turn right onto this downhill track to Cadiran de Haut, go round the property and rejoin the stony track you took on the way out.

(5) Turn right and follow the same route back to the starting point.

(4) At the end of the stony track, cross the road, take the dirt track opposite and continue to the Peyret house.

(3) At the junction, turn left and continue to the wash house junction.

(2) Turn left. Further on, follow the D943 to the right.

(1) Cross the Baïse and go through the village. Cross the Petite Baïse and turn immediately left to reach the car park (S/E).

- From the start to (6), follow the^GR® 653 Way of St James.

- Picnic spot on the Lake Lizet embankment.
