Route de Tracastel and Clue de Saint-Auban
Remains of medieval Saint-Auban, breathtaking views of the mountains and a sublime finale at the edge of the Clue de Saint-Auban.
Please note that part of the route is by road.
Saint-Auban - Le Mas
The final stage of the hike in the Haut-Estéron region; this route mainly follows tracks through the woodland before reaching the ridge of Mount Charamel, which is well worth the detour in its own right: the view is sublime. You then descend gently back down to the village of Le Mas.
Circular route from Soleilhas to Saint-Pierre Chapel
This hike on the edge of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence offers a varied route through forests, rocky outcrops and even a riverbed. It is not particularly difficult, although some descents can be a little steep. It also gives you the opportunity to visit the pretty Saint-Pierre Chapel, tucked away in the woods.
Valderoure route, returning via Malamaire
Starting from the charming village of Valderoure, this route with its varied landscapes will take you through a pine forest to the hamlet of Les Beaux. After crossing the Lane and Artuby rivers, you will pass through the hamlet of Malamaire before returning to Valderoure, still in the forest.
Circular Gars and Briançonnet loop
Circular route from the village of Gars to Briançonnet. This hike takes you to the impressive Source de Gars, the birthplace of Célestin Freinet, pioneer of modern education. It is a varied route that passes through the village of Briançonnet and the ruins of its feudal castle, from where there is a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Both villages are well worth a visit for their rich heritage.
Pic de l'Aiglo
A very pleasant, easy family hike through pine forests and small meadows, ideal for a picnic in the mountains.
Pic de Fourneuby
At an altitude of over 1,400 metres, this pleasant hike through the pine trees takes you on a journey of discovery through an enchanting environment. The Pic de Fourneuby overlooks the village of Le Mas and offers a 360° panorama of the foothills of the Alpes-Maritimes and neighbouring departments.
The Col de la Baïsse, the Castellaras and the Château des Quatre Tours
This hike is accessible to all. The highlight is the magnificent site of Castellaras, the only difficulty being the climb, which is nevertheless reasonable. The hike starts from the picturesque health resort of Thorenc. The route also offers views of Lake Thorenc and the Château des Quatre Tours. The variety of landscapes and paths is another interesting aspect of this hike. What's more, there are no navigation difficulties.
Crêtes du Bauroux
A beautiful and pleasant hike, without any particular difficulty, dotted with historic sites and varied landscapes: rocky terrain, woodland and plains. You won’t be bored for a minute and, as a grand finale, a breathtaking 360° panorama from the highest point.
Amirat - Saint-Auban
Second stage of the journey through the Haut-Estéron region. This stage takes you to Saint-Auban via the pretty villages of Gars and Briançonnet, then over the somewhat steep Col de l’Escoussier; a variety of landscapes and a trek through wild countryside await!
The Beaume des Echelles tour
The route is not particularly difficult and can easily be done on snowshoes if there is enough snow.
The summit section of the route offers superb views of the Caille plain and all the surrounding peaks.

Circular route in the Haut-Estéron region

Three days’ hiking in this magnificent setting, alternating between paths and tracks through the woods, across the plains and along the ridges, whilst passing through some beautiful, isolated villages.
Le Mas - Amirat
The first stage of the journey through the Haut Estéron region: the landscapes are magnificent and the area extremely wild; we didn’t come across a single other hiker. The trails are varied and well-marked. We’ll set off from the village of Le Mas to reach Amirat (lodge) via the Charamel mountain and the village of Les Mujouls.
Arpille summit from Le Mas
This round trip hike, starting from the charming village of Le Mas, takes you to the summit of L'Arpille. L'Arpille is considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Alpes-Maritimes on the Mercantour.
L'Audibergue
A short circular hike to the top of the Audibergue ski resort. A beautiful panorama of the Mercantour mountain range, the peaks of the Grasse region, the Mediterranean Sea (Lérins Islands and Golfe de la Napoule) and the Estérel.

The Clars Waterfall via the Ubac de Brainée and the Montagne des Louquiers
A superb hike in the Grasse hinterland. On the agenda: megaliths, magnificent views of the entire coast (on a clear day) and, to finish, a superb waterfall in an exceptional setting.
Le Castellaras and Lac de Thorenc starting from La Pinée
Another route leading to the ruins of Castellaras and Lac de Thorenc, which follows part of the existing route on Visorando. It starts from the D5, at a place called La Pinée, and is just as interesting.
Gueydan Bridge – Entrevaux via the summit of La Lette
A beautiful, challenging route that keeps you on the ridgelines. The C-shaped configuration of the Var means that throughout this ascent you can admire the river’s banks on both the north and south sides. At the end of the hike, wander through the narrow streets lined with old walls in this magnificent village.
The Combe Renard circular route starting from Annot
Follow the paths of La Colle Basse d’Annot to reach the Combe Renard Spring.
An easy hike featuring a steep climb at the start, followed by a flat forest path before beginning the descent.
(!) In winter, this section is very shaded and patches of ice may be present.
Vérimande - Colle Basse d'Annot
Discover the trails of the Colle Basse d'Annot on this route, which offers stunning views of the Baou and the Grès d'Annot. After a rewarding climb, you’ll follow the Vaïre at the end of the walk, with the chance to take a refreshing dip.

A short and lovely walk with a magical view of the village, oak and chestnut trees amidst sandstone boulders. Much of the route is through the cool forest.

Hill of Clare
A hike to the end of the world. The starting village is very sparsely populated, with about ten inhabitants, and the trail is very quiet except perhaps during mushroom season.
Baou Mourine at the start of the Siagne valley
A beautiful circular walk in the Préalpes d'Azur Regional Park.This moderately difficult route will take you from the Siagne valley to Escragnoles via the Briasq Forest. You will reach the Baou Mourine watchtower, which offers exceptional views. The descent follows the Cavalet ridge to return to the starting point.
The Forest of Nans
This is a lovely, easy walk for the whole family in autumn to admire the magnificent colours of the leaves or in summer to enjoy the cool shade of the woods.
Thiey Mountain via Canaux and Nans Forest
A little-used route in the Grasse hinterland. 360° view from the summit of Montagne de Thiey on the Calern Plateau, the bays of Cannes and Saint-Raphaël, the azure Pre-Alps and the Mercantour in the distance
Before reaching the summit, you will pass through beautiful woodland and the livestock farming areas of Canaux.
La Montagne de Brouis
A lovely hike alternating between tracks, rocky paths and magnificent woodland. Panoramic views of the valley, the Lachens, Canjuers and Les Maures.
The Bargème Mill and the Artuby
A lovely walk from Bargème and its castle to the banks of the Artuby with its turquoise waters. You will enjoy splendid views of the surrounding area as far as Mont Coudon. Part of the walk is in the sun (take care in summer) and part is in the woods (very pleasant).
Vallon de la Clue-Bargème
Easy walk around the Vallon de la Cluel, starting from the village of Bargème.
Route Calern in Caussols
This hike of around 15 km takes you across the Calern plateau to its summit, allowing you to appreciate its karstic landscape, particularly the sinkhole, and to discover along the way the Notre-Dame de Calern cave-chapel as well as the Calern observatory site with its “bubble houses”.
Le Haut Montet
A beautiful circular starting from Caussols, which first leads to the summit of Montet and then to that of Haut Montet. Magnificent and varied landscapes, exceptional views.
Notre-Dame de Calern
Notre-Dame de Calern, the cave chapel overlooking the small village of Caussols, leaves no one indifferent. Located on the southern slope of the Calern plateau, this place of devotion and fervour is the site of an annual pilgrimage on 15 August.
The Grand Près de Caussols tour
This unusual route for the region will take you past limestone rocks sculpted by erosion, including a cave chapel which you can visit. You will pass through the facilities of the Côte d'Azur Astronomical Observatory. This loop will then take you on a journey through 2,000 years of history along a Roman road through the woods. The final section, through stone enclosures and old sheepfolds, bears witness to a pastoral past.
The summit of Calern
Short hike to the summit of the Causse de Calern, where the panorama is remarkable with views of the coastline in the distance, the Caussols Plateau, and the peaks of Cheiron and Mercantour. On the way, visit Notre-Dame de Calern, a cave converted into a chapel.
Tour of the Malle plateau from the Col du Ferrier
This hike goes around the Malle plateau, first following the Colle du Maçon ridge and then the Doublier ridge. Most of the route is along the peaks of the Grasse Pre-Alps and offers breathtaking 360° views of the Mercantour, the Côte d'Azur and the enchanting Caussols plateau.The Malle plateau is farmed by a group of livestock breeders. This route respects the boundaries of the Malle estate, which are marked by numerous signs on the ground.
Tête de Pibossan at the start of the Croix-sur-Roudoule
A beautiful and original hike on a little-used route offering a lovely view of the Mercantour (some peaks can be seen from unusual angles) from the summit of Pibossan.
Spring is the ideal time to walk this route, with the broom in bloom.
The route follows what is probably an ancient Roman road (paved path) through the red earth rising from the Daluis Gorges.
