The start is on the road leading to the village of Thorenc, at the first large buildings when arriving from the east via the D502. The width of the road allows several vehicles to park behind each other without difficulty.
(S/E) Head east on the D502 and follow it for about 200 m until you reach marker 148.
(1) Leave the road and take the path on the right. Follow it along the Vallon de la Ravinette until you reach the junction with the D2 and marker 140. Cross the road with caution as vehicles often travel at high speed.
(2) After passing the bucolic lake, you will arrive at marker 141.
(3) Continue left on the wide track that follows the Vallon de l'Ubac. From here, the trail begins a gradual ascent through the forest. At marker 142, continue straight ahead, following the yellow markings to the Col de la Baïsse and marker 143.
(4) Take the track on the left heading north-east, still in the forest, and you will reach a crossroads.
(5) Take the track on the right heading due east. Gradually, you will leave the forest, the horizon will clear and you will soon see Castellaras. You will arrive at a T-junction.
(6) Take the track on the right for 150 metres until you reach marker 146.
(7) At the sign for Castellaras, turn left onto a very steep path which climbs 100 metres over 500 metres.
(8) Don't miss the statue of the Virgin Mary north of Castellaras. The site is ideal for a picnic with a panoramic view. Turn back to the T-junction at elevation 1305.
(6) Stay on the main track, which descends quite steeply northwards for about 1200 m until you reach marker 145 and the D2.
(9) Turn left and follow the road for about 600 m until you reach marker 134 and a track on the right.
Take care on this busy road with narrow verges.
(10) Leave the D2 and turn right onto the track. Leave it after 200 m and continue left on a path marked in yellow. Cross a ford with caution. You will come to a junction of tracks.
(10) You will see the Château des Quatre Tours on your left. Continue northwards to reach the road, which you will follow until you come out onto the D502 to reach the car park (S/E).

Very nice hike, mostly in the shade. The only downside: at point 9, it was difficult to find the fork to the right after walking 200 metres along the track. We had to retrace our steps, but thanks to the trail, we found our way back. There were no yellow markings on this section.
