L'Audibergue

A short circular hike to the top of the Audibergue ski resort. A beautiful panorama of the Mercantour mountain range, the peaks of the Grasse region, the Mediterranean Sea (Lérins Islands and Golfe de la Napoule) and the Estérel.

Description of the walk

Park in the large car park at the foot of the ski resort.

(S/E) Take the path that starts to the right of the Aups ski lift and overlooks the road for a few metres before turning left and climbing into the forest.

(1) At marker 173, join the edge of the ski slope on the left and climb up along it, following the trail. When you reach a three-way junction, keep left towards a small pass. Then turn left to join a trail near two sinkholes that serve as water reservoirs for the resort.

(2) Go around the sinkholes on the left to reach the Audibergue ridge. Then follow the ridge to the south-east to reach the summit just after a small house at the top of the ski lifts.

(3) At marker 176, which marks the summit, turn left off the trail and join a rough track, then turn left again to join the green "Les Campanules" track.

Follow the edge of this piste to the bottom of the resort.

When you arrive opposite the ski lifts, follow the track on the right to return to the car park at the starting point (S/E).

A superb snowshoe route. Very busy during school holidays. Magnificent 360° panoramic view from the summit. For beginners, make sure you are properly equipped if you want to picnic at 1,650 metres, as the wind is strong and icy at this time of year. Take care along the ski slopes, of course!

A lovely little route with no difficulty. All you need to do is follow the resort's slopes.
The view from the top is really worth it, with the coast and islands on one side and the snow-capped mountains on the other.
On 15 November, we had the resort all to ourselves. We even had a picnic on a mattress that was waiting for us in the sun.
Thanks to the poster.
