Saint-André-le-Désert walks

The village of Saint-André-le-Désert is located between Clunisois and Charolais. I suggest this short walk in the heart of the Charolais cattle breeding region. The paths run through a landscape of rolling hills and hedgerows. You will pass through small hamlets with stone houses and places steeped in history. Suitable for families.

On the GR®7 trail between the Col des Vaux, in the commune of Verosvres, and Chevagny-sur-Guye, passing by the Butte de Suin This is a very quiet section of the GR®7. There are no signposts at some junctions and no footprints in the tall grass to mark the route, so you must take an IGN map with you, although a GPS device is preferable. This section of the GR® needs to be more popular, as it is not difficult and offers beautiful scenery. The view from the Butte de Suin is magnificent.

On the GR®7 trail, between the Col des Vaux in the commune of Verosvres and Mont Rigaud, passing through the village of Saint-Bonnet-des-Bruyères. There are many shaded sections in the forest and beautiful landscapes. The trail is sometimes unmarked, so bring an IGN map, but it is preferable to have a GPS device.

This 10km loop hike starts from Saint-Clément-sur-Guye, with the Carapone at its highest point (440m), and takes in the villages of Saint-Clément-sur-Guye (Romanesque church listed as a historic monument in 1927, a tower to the east of the church), Rains, commune of Joncy (pretty stone houses), Le Petit Ballay, its square tower, its 'Murgers' (piles of stones removed from the vines), before Corcelles (hamlet of Saint-Clément).

A pleasant walk offering beautiful landscapes and viewpoints, between forest and meadows bordered by low dry-stone walls. The steepness is very gradual on the first part of the walk, allowing you to reach the summit of Mont Saint-Romain without any particular difficulty. On the return journey, the slopes are steeper, but never unmanageable. A perfect walk for those who want a good outing but don't want to put too much strain on their legs.

A beautiful, undulating route that will take you along a newly marked trail through the municipal woodlands of Blanot, offering some very pretty views, and through the Combe du Nivernais. It continues along the Grison with its old mills before climbing up to Culey and reaching the shade of the woods on the Faitral path, which offers glimpses of the Grosne valley in places.

From the medieval town of Saint-Gengoux-le-National, a route via the Crainseny Viaduct and Culles-les-Roches.

This walk starts in the medieval town of Saint-Gengoux-le-National, continues to Culle-les-Roches, a village below a cliff with a cave, and returns via a lost viaduct in the forest.

Marked route in the hills above Verzé, between Mâcon and Cluny. Starting from the Rampon quarry, you will cross the woods of Verzé and then climb up to the Croix Montmain. You will follow the Chemin des Chevaliers (GR®) with a magnificent view of the Val Lamartinien and the castle of Berzé-le-Chatel. On the way back, you will cross the hamlet of Les Tardys. The circular route ends with a picturesque path offering views of the pastures.

A walk in the countryside of Genouilly, a small rural village in the Guye valley, between the limestone hillsides where vines grow and the granite forest chaos. Rivers, hedges and copses punctuate this hike, which follows paths and small roads.

From the Azé Caves car park, climb up to Mont Saint-Romain, then take a circular route around Blanot and return via the Étang de Crue. Enjoy a 360° panorama from the roof of the Mont Saint-Romain inn and a beautiful view from the orientation table above the Azé caves.

From Verzé, in the Haut Mâconnais, this circular route winds its way through vineyards and woods. First, we climb towards Échanault to reach Roche Coche via Champ de la Boivine. The Roche Coche orientation table offers a beautiful view of the Val Lamartine, the Roche de Solutré and, in the distance, the Hauts du Beaujolais. Next, head back up towards Les Bruyères, then descend to Chanaud and turn north-east towards Escolles and Vanzé to return to Verzé.

A peaceful and relatively shaded route between vineyards and forest to discover, in the heart of nature, the surprising Crainseny Viaduct that spans the entire valley. The Gorges de la Mouille, near Culles-les-Roches, offer a charming passage without being too dizzying.

A pleasant hike of around 20 kilometres with no particular difficulties, this hike can be done in the opposite direction to that indicated.

A hill walk with no major challenges, in an unspoilt setting with villages overlooked by Mont Bouzu. Changing views all along the way, including a wide shot of Mont Saint-Vincent and a visit to the Château de Pontus-de-Thyard.

Large circular figure-of-eight on Mont Saint-Cyr (771m) located near Montmelard, Aigueperse and Matour starting from En Crozan (769m). Discover beautiful panoramic views of the Morvan, Mont Blanc, Mont Saint-Rigaud and Puy de Dôme. Wander through meadows, Douglas firs, holly, beech and oak trees.

A beautiful, easy walk in the Brionnais-Pays Clayettois region, surrounded by peace and greenery. The route allows you to discover some of the ponds and old grain mills.

Hike from Serrières to the summit of Signal de la Mère Boitier This hike largely follows the yellow-marked Mâcon Tourisme route (14 km | 4 hours 40 minutes on foot), which can be downloaded here, and another part of the Crêtes route, marked in blue from Mère Boitier to the hamlet of Les Guérins.

You will enjoy superb panoramic views of the Beaujolais, the Saône Valley and the Val Lamartine.This long route takes you along theGR®®76 trailthrough the cool forest of the Bois des Bruyères.On the way back, you can admire Chasselas, Mâcon, the Saône Valley and even the Alps from the Grange du Bois and the summit of Mont de Pouilly.

A family hike offering magnificent views of the Mâconnais vineyards and, if the sky is clear, much further afield towards the Mont Blanc Massif.
