Plombières walks

The hike starts at the Collège Notre-Dame in Gemmenich. This is a very beautiful hike that alternates between small roads, forest paths and trails along streams, with magnificent views of the Moresnet viaduct.

In the Pays de Herve, known for its hedgerows and livestock farming, Aubel is the land of syrup made from apples, pears and, in some cases, sugar beet... a real treat for many enthusiasts. The Fourons, which became a Limburg enclave after the political and linguistic disputes between Flemish and Walloons ended in the late 20th century, offer the same type of rolling countryside, but with a little more woodland. The region is also renowned, like the English countryside, for its countless country lanes, cattle grids, turnstiles and gates that prevent livestock from escaping onto the roads, into fields or into neighbours' pastures. Hikers will discover monumental churches as well as countless crosses, chapels and shrines.

This TOTEMUS hunt, called "La balade des trois vallées" (The Three Valleys Walk), follows the route of the marked "Promenade des Panoramas" walk, marked with a blue diamond, from the Maison du Tourisme du Pays de Herve.It is a beautiful discovery, taking you through streets and country lanes to little-known places on the edge of the golf course.

Hike with quite a few forest trails.

A very beautiful, somewhat hilly hike starting from Fouron-Saint-Pierre, taking you through the Konenbos, Veursbos and Vrouwenbos forest reserves, interspersed with more rural landscapes. The route also crosses the Pietershof vineyard. At the end of the walk, you can take a break at the Commanderie, either to visit the site or to enjoy a delicious rainbow trout, as there is a fish farm (the oldest in Belgium!) next door.

Short hike starting from Val Dieu, passing by the interesting viewpoint of the Knuppelstock bunker and the meadows of the Aubel region, Herve plateau.

This loop takes you through green countryside, small hamlets typical of the region, and the rolling landscapes of the Pays de Herve. It is a perfect hike for nature lovers, relaxation and discovering rural heritage. The hike usually starts in the village of Charneux, often from Rue Petit Vinâve. The route is well marked in red, making it easy to follow even for less experienced hikers.

This fairly long and adjustable hike, measuring approximately 40 km, will take you along numerous small paths and allow you to discover some of the monuments of the Herve region and its surroundings. You will begin your adventure in the peaceful little village of Chaineux, then take a small rural path via Manaihant to the Xénemont mill (please note that the tunnel crossing the motorway may be closed). You will then pass through the town of Herve, where you will discover a farmhouse ice cream parlour. Head towards line 38 (an old railway line) towards a slag heap in Soumagne (an old coal mining area). Continue your journey through the small village of Melen and its woods and pass in front of Bolland Castle. You can decide to climb up to see the Charneux cross or follow the main road towards Battice to return to Chaineux via the meadows.

A lovely walk around an engineering structure between spruce and oak forests. Along forest paths, you will discover the beautiful Helle Valley and the Vesdre dam lake at the confluence of the Getz and Vesdre (Weser) rivers.

At the edge of the Hertogenwald Forest, the path takes you through fields and woods to the wetlands of the Hoëgne and then to the village of Surister, where you can discover the Château de la Louveterie between the waters of the Borchène and the Ruisseau de Sècheval.

A gentle descent along the Inde river in the Fagnes, from Raeren to Kornelimünster. You will discover the old water mills of the town dedicated to Saint Kornelius since Louis the Pious.

I invite you to discover the Blegny-Mine estate and the beautiful surrounding region by following bucolic paths and trails, some of which lead through the woods.

Route from the village of Herbiester, mainly through beautiful forests with changing scenery, downhill towards the Gileppe to the bottom of the dam lake of the same name, and back up to the village. A significant part of the route is on small asphalt roads: between the crossing points (S/E) to (2) and (4) to (6), plus the short return to the village.

Starting from the pretty Place du Moulin in Soiron – one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia – after admiring the old wash house, the walk gradually heads west into the countryside and offers a beautiful view of the Bola valley. The entrance to Olne crosses the Bois d'Olne and takes the beautiful Côte en Égypte before branching off to descend into the valley. The climb up the Croupet du Bois is hard on the calves, as is the descent on a bend in the Vesdre l'Est. At the viewpoint over the Vesdre, the route heads due east across meadows towards Cornesse and Wegnez, to the Paire sports complex, where it turns north towards the splendid wooded area of Tribomont and the bottom of Fiérain on the edge of Lambermont (Verviers). The route offers beautiful countryside scenery and some panoramic views of this pretty, hilly region. Hike without description to be followed with the Visorando app.

The route starts in Jehanster and takes you on a walk through streets, country lanes and meadows.

From the village of Cornesse, there is a superb path through the woods offering several views of the Vesdre valley.

For those who like to cover a lot of ground, there are various forests (coniferous and deciduous) to explore, as well as the boardwalks and peat bogs of the Hautes Fagnes.

Leaving the village, head towards La Falise, following in the footsteps of the herders who used to take their flocks to graze on the Rafhay pastures. Continue on to Saint-Hadelin, Le Fief, its chapel and its nail tree. Head towards Croix-Renard and descend into the Vesdre valley to cross Nessonvaux and Vaux-sous-Olne. This route takes you past many workshops that drew their energy from the Ry-de-Vaux. Head back up towards the Terwangne woods and the village.

A magnificent walk through woods, fields and picturesque villages 

This walk takes us to Petit Vaux and the entrance to Nessonvaux, where we climb the Bois-d'Olne hill on its southern slope. From Bois-d'Olne to Grihanster, we walk along a magnificent ridge. From here, we can admire two very different landscapes. To the north, the Hazienne valley and the village of Olne, and to the south, the Vesdre valley and the first wooded foothills of the Ardennes.

From the centre of Olne, one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia, we descend towards the Ri de Rode before reaching the Rafhay bocage. This is a typical Pays-de-Herve landscape with its meadows, hedges, paths and a few characterful farms. Enjoy a 360-degree panorama of Saint-Hadelin, one of the most picturesque hamlets in the municipality. On a clear day, you can see the Botrange signal to the south-east and the Bronronne wind turbine due south. This path follows the purple rectangle markings (walk no. 1)

After revisiting a dozen walks in their municipality, a few lovers of hiking and beautiful landscapes in Olne decided to set themselves a challenge: to mark out a walk on the outskirts of the area. This is how this tour of Olne came about, taking you over hill and dale to discover one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia.

Leave the village towards Vaux-sous-Olne. Walk towards the Hazienne valley and its wooded hillsides before climbing the Bois-d'Olne hill. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Hazienne, a secret stream also known as the Bola de Grand-Rechain in Soiron, with its capricious meanders and sometimes underground course. Let's head back up towards the village via Froidbermont, where the first castle of Olne was located.

This walk starts at Le Fief, where you will find Saint-Hadelin Church and the nail tree. La Neuville, Le Fief, Le Rouau, Le Faweux, Belle-Maison, Riessonsart: all these places evoke legends and tragedies. The 17th- and 18th-century houses with their shrines, crosses and inscriptions bear witness to the richness of the local heritage. The Magne river flows lazily through the hamlet. Le Fief de Saint-Hadelin and the centre of Olne are among the most beautiful villages in Wallonia.

Solwaster, a small village at the foot of the fagne, 16 km from Verviers, is unique in that it is located between two of the most beautiful rivers in the fagne: the Statte, which rises in the peat bogs of the Hautes-Fagnes, in the Wihonfagne fagne, and the Hoëgne, which rises in the Polleur fagne. These two rivers welcome us into a magical landscape of fens and forests.

The Sawe and the Statte are two beautiful streams that cascade down from the Fagnes plateau and converge near the village of Solwaster. The ascent of the Sawe is surprising for the diversity of views in the forest and valley. The only thing missing is the Nutons. After crossing the Fagne and its typical open landscapes, you reach the Statte, which you descend along its waterfalls. Water is omnipresent on this route.

The route is marked (yellow rectangles) and shown on the "Jalhay-Spa-Stavelot-Theux" walking map, available from the Tourist Office.The first half is a superb walk (with a few difficult and potentially slippery sections) along the Sawe.The second half (when you leave the Sawe) is the return to Solwaster on a more relaxing but more mundane path.There is also the option of a longer 8.5 km version (blue rectangles).

This hike starts at Nessonvaux station, a village on the banks of the Vesdre. It meanders along the edge of the Herve region and the Vesdre ridges, from paths with distant horizons to sunken trails hidden in the many small, steep-sided valleys. It winds its way through authentic villages such as Olne (one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia), hamlets and other isolated places steeped in history. This rural route winds its way through a region with a thousand paths and significant elevation changes. Its charm and tranquillity encourage you to return in all seasons and in all directions, except after heavy rain or periods of frost, ice or snow.Please note: this hike does not take place in the Condroz, but in the Pays de Herve (more precisely in the Vesdre valley).

A mainly woodland walk in the hills above the Vesdre between Nessonvaux, Banneux and Fraipont, offering walkers beautiful views of the valley, the village of Goffontaine and the hills of Olne to the north.

We leave the Croix Renard and its magnificent 360° view behind us and head down to Saint-Hadelin, with its chapel and nail tree. A superb path, called the daffodil path, then takes us through the woods to the outskirts of the pretty village of Forêt. The path leads us close to Olno, a radio guidance station. From Forêt to Croix-Renard, we enjoy an exceptional view of the hamlets of Hansez and Gelivaux and the many crops dotting the landscape.

This walk starts at Croix Renard and takes you to Saint-Hadelin before heading up to the Olno radio guidance station and the beautiful village of Forêt. You will then pass through the Massouheid nature reserve before crossing the hamlet of Hansez. Admire the listed pond and the four old farms with their barns. Halfway along the route, there is a picnic area with a superb view.

Starting from the ruins of Franchimont Castle, discover Theux and its surroundings, including some remarkable trees, including an impressive sequoia, the Ru de Chawion Nature Reserve, the hamlets of Sassor and Sasserotte, passages along the Wayai and Hoëgne rivers, some beautiful panoramic views, long stretches through the magnificent Bois de Staneux and a " work dedicated to crayfish".

Do you like moorland landscapes? Are you fond of boardwalks? Then you should enjoy this walk! This walk takes you to the Brackvenn moor, near the German border. The walk takes place in the forest, in the moors, along stretches of water... The landscapes are varied and truly delightful.

This hike will delight lovers of the Hautes-Fagnes and wetlands. The highlights include the boardwalks in the southern part of Brackvenn, the trail in the Spohrbach valley, the confluence of the Spohrbach and the Helle (Hill in German) and the border marker trail (at the end of the route).
