- The hike begins and ends at the Sécheval fountain located on Rue de Mariomont-Sécheval, 15 metres before number 11 in 4845 Jalhay (Wallonia, Belgium), i.e. L: 5.90109° - l: 50.58239°.
- To get there by car, leave the E40 motorway towards Verviers, then head towards Jalhay until you leave the suburb of Mangombroux - Stembert, then turn left onto Rue de Mariomont-Sécheval where you can park your vehicle.
- By train, arrive at Verviers Central station, where a TEC 705 bus will take you to Mangombroux (Stembert Sécheval).
- At the end of the street (towards the south), turn left onto Route de Jalhay for 50 m, pass No. 7, then take the footpath where your hike begins.
Circular between the Hoëgne and the Borchène
At the edge of the Hertogenwald Forest, the path takes you through fields and woods to the wetlands of the Hoëgne and then to the village of Surister, where you can discover the Château de la Louveterie between the waters of the Borchène and the Ruisseau de Sècheval.

This fairly long and adjustable hike, measuring approximately 40 km, will take you along numerous small paths and allow you to discover some of the monuments of the Herve region and its surroundings. You will begin your adventure in the peaceful little village of Chaineux, then take a small rural path via Manaihant to the Xénemont mill (please note that the tunnel crossing the motorway may be closed). You will then pass through the town of Herve, where you will discover a farmhouse ice cream parlour. Head towards line 38 (an old railway line) towards a slag heap in Soumagne (an old coal mining area). Continue your journey through the small village of Melen and its woods and pass in front of Bolland Castle. You can decide to climb up to see the Charneux cross or follow the main road towards Battice to return to Chaineux via the meadows.
