Peyruis walks
The Ganagobie Plateau from Peyruis
Discover the Ganagobie plateau covered with oak and pine trees and its monastery. Beautiful view of the Durance valley and the Croix de l'Allée des Moines.
The Sentier des Pénitents des Mées
The upper trail offers a completely different view from the valley. The Pénitents show their heads and draperies, which is almost more surprising than from below! And then there is a lovely view of the nearby Durance valley. The trail is easy, but there is often a drop on at least one side. Take care with children.
Around Ganagobie Priory
A short walk with lots to discover: the priory, of course, as well as an old millstone quarry and the oppidum known as Villevieille.
Circular Lurs, a hilltop village in Provence
Lurs, a Provençal village perched on a rocky outcrop, with its shaded paved slanting streets, surrounded by a landscape of olive trees, offers an exceptional panorama of the Pre-Alps, the Durance valley, the Valensole plateau, the Montagne de Lure and the Luberon mountain range.
The tour of the jas in Cruis
A pleasant hike along paths that wind through the foothills of the Lure mountain, allowing you to discover jas restored by volunteers from the commune of Cruis in sublime locations.
Follow the yellow and red markings at first, then only the yellow markings.
Around Château-Arnoux Lake - Volonne
An easy route that combines the "Au fil de l'eau" heritage trail created by the Château-Arnoux Heritage Association with an exploration of the flora and fauna of the banks of the middle Durance.
La Colette - Piégu around Mirabeau
A lovely, not too long walk with beautiful views of the Durance and Bléone valleys.
Geodetic point "Le Pin Blanc"
A very easy walk to prepare for longer hikes. Very pretty view of the Volx rock.
Montagne de Lure, southern ascent
Ascent of Montagne de Lure from Saint-Étienne-les-Orgues. Circular route to the summit via Notre-Dame de Lure and the resort of Lure, covering part of the ridges of Montagne de Lure.
This route offers varied landscapes, crossing a beech forest, alpine meadows and dwarf junipers on the ridges, all offering panoramic views of Mont Ventoux and the Albion Plateau, the Southern Alps and the peaks of the Écrins.
On the trail of the Trail des Cathelières
This is a short loop, suitable for horse riding, which follows part of the Trail des Cathelières de Mallemoisson route. There is a quick alternative route to climb up to Vieil Aiglun and then return to the loop.
The Mourres rocks
Located north of Focalquier, the Mourres rocks are a geological curiosity. The area is full of enormous mushroom-shaped rocks several metres high. The word Mourre means 'snout' in Provençal.
The Cairn 2000 via the Lure ridges
This is a short hike along the ridge of Lure Mountain, with guaranteed 360° panoramic views, to Cairn 2000, which commemorates the transition tothe third millennium.
Even though this is a round trip, the advantage of a ridge is that the landscape is completely different on each side
The ridges of the Lure mountain
The hike quickly reaches a superb viewpoint offering a clear view of the mountains of south-eastern France:- Sainte-Baume and Sainte-Victoire (Bouches-du-Rhône)- Le Lubéron or Mont Ventoux (Vaucluse)- Le Verdon (Var/Alpes de Haute Provence)- Les Trois Becs (Drôme)- Le Dévoluy or Les Écrins (Hautes Alpes)- Mont Aiguille and Grand Veymont (Isère). Then we set off to explore the resort's old ski lifts, finally returning via the old coal mines.
La Roche Amère
This loop goes around a rock (La Roche Amère), which will be visible for much of the hike. A quarter of the way round, I suggest a detour to the Chapelle de la Roche. If you wish, continue past the chapel (not marked on the map) and follow the path that leads to the top of the rock (ruin), where you will have a beautiful view of the Durance valley.
The Cabanons de Mane
If you like Bories, you'll see them in the distance at the start, then up close, and you can even go inside some of them. On your way back, before you get to the village, you'll walk up a superb calade (cobbled) street, and there's a little detour to see the Château de Mane.
Circular Mane in Saint-Michel l'Observatoire
Discover the Via Domitia, the drystone shelters, the Roman bridge, the Roman ford at Reculon, the hamlet of Les Craux, the village of Lincel and return via the astronomical observatory.
Above Volx
The village of Volx is known throughout Europe for its climbing guide, which has recently been redesigned and made safer.
At the start of the hike, you will see the climbing walls on your right.
At the end of the Capellane climb (it's steep), you will be rewarded with a beautiful view overlooking the village.
Then you will have a superb view of the Durance valley on your left.
