Pérenchies walks

A pleasant circular route starting from Pérenchies, along small country roads and a few dirt tracks (muddy in winter). Along the way, you can enjoy blackberries (in season), you’ll come across horses (at the riding centres), and perhaps a heron, storks and flamingos. This route offers the chance to discover 8 geocaches for enthusiasts.

Prémesques, the starting village, is at the edge of the suburbs, close to Lomme and Pérenchies.This humble asphalt route could nonetheless satisfy joggers and provide plenty of fresh air for walkers. What else could you ask for?If you set off at daybreak, you might see a few partridges fly in, encounter a few rabbits and maybe even some hares.

Departure from Carrefour de la Vallée in Ennetières-en-Weppes. For a hike on roads and small paved country lanes. Can be completed in two hours if you walk at a brisk pace.

This often shaded walk, straddling the Belgian border, may appeal to you, as 90% of the route runs alongside the banks of the Lys and the Deûle.

An easy 10 Km round trip along both banks of the Deûle canal. __⚠️ Work reported on the outward bank between points 1 and 4 on February 13, 2022. Plan to make the return trip on the other bank while waiting for the work to be completed.__

At the start of this route, you can visit the magnificent park and garden of the Countess de Robersart, who lived at the château of the same name in the 19th century. This perfectly circular garden contains many listed medicinal and perennial plants.You'll also appreciate this remarkable marina on the Canal de la Deûle.The rest of the route is a leisurely stroll on asphalt through the Wambrechies countryside.

Departure and arrival at the Rue du Touquet car park near the Ploegsteert brickworks via the Howarderie and the Ploegsteert Ornithological Nature Reserve. Located in the heart of the Lys Valley, this remarkable 100-hectare site is a treat for bird lovers.

The walk follows the Canal de la Deûle, on the towpaths on both banks: La Madeleine to the east and Saint-André to the west. A mixed urban and nature trail between two bridges. Several information boards on the La Madeleine side. The trail is also quite popular with cyclists and runners on the La Madeleine side.

Start and finish at the car park near Bizet Church via the Ornithological Nature Reserve and Rue de la Howarderie in Ploegsteert. This route crosses a muddy farm track during winter.

This route, based on the 2023 Urban Trail, will take you on a tour of Lille’s iconic landmarks. Some of them are open to the public.

Just a stone's throw from Lille, an easy stroll through unspoilt countryside, passing through the Emmerin wellfields. The end is a little urban before entering the leisure and nature park.

A long stroll across flat land with a nice climb at the end. Only two slightly difficult sections, so it's an ideal walk in autumn and winter. The walk starts on a small road with few houses and therefore little traffic, before crossing Le Bizet via Les Voyettes. The route then continues along the canal and the beautiful Pont Bayart bridge, which is reserved for non-motorised traffic, then past a few ponds with facilities for welcoming storks, before ending at the Bois de Ploegsteert.

If you're a birdwatcher at heart, you'll appreciate the observatories in this nature reserve. You can also picnic on the benches under the trees or enjoy a meal in Mosaïc Park (booking required). This route is particularly green and shaded, making it the perfect place to spend a wonderful day with family or friends.

Departing from the Parc Mozaïc car park, a 15km hike along the farm tracks of the Marais de la Deule, between Emmerin, Noyelles-lès-Seclin and Ancoisne.

The Bois de la Lodge route in Santes is a walk that includes a small 1.3 km circular route and a large 2.8 km circular route. Well-maintained paths, not very muddy even in wet weather. Dogs are allowed if kept on a leash.

Departure and arrival at the car park on the main square in Bas-Warneton via the countryside around Houthem. The walk follows the Ypres-Comines canal to the Lys river, then takes the towpath to the Bas-Warneton cemetery before arriving at the square in Bas-Warneton.

This hike is passable even when the paths are muddy, as they are very grassy. We spend a very pleasant time between the plain, the canal and the woods...

If you have time, you can visit the museum dedicated to the Battle of Fromelles, which took place in July 1916. Next, you will skirt the village of Aubers, but you will see some of its ponds, which make this village a tourist destination for fishing and camping. You will also encounter the very respectable Tilleul du Joncquoy, which was planted there in 1490.

A beautiful route through the fields, great for getting some fresh air, but preferably in dry weather.

This route through the Comines countryside is accessible all year round, although the best time to visit is from April to October. The hedges of trees and shrubs that separate the fields protect them from temperature fluctuations. They also help to slow down soil erosion by regulating water runoff and maintaining the flora and fauna.The alignments along the paths and roads are made up of pollarded willows or poplars.

Departure and arrival at the car park of the Irish Tower in the Peace Park in Messines. The Irish Island Peace Park refers to the Battle of the Mines in 1917. At that time, Irish Catholic and Protestant soldiers fought side by side. Young Irish people helped build the tower as a sign of reconciliation. This site offers a magnificent view of the surrounding hilly landscape.

The walk passes the old school in Linde, which is a completely renovated and very peaceful rural school in the Heuvelland. The building is listed in the cultural heritage index and is therefore unique.

It was recaptured by Commonwealth forces during the Battle of Messines on 7 June 1917, but fell back into German hands on 16 April 1918. The village was recaptured for the last time on 28 September.
