Monthois walks

From Monthois, head to the Source des Dues, which once supplied the whole village. Starting from Monthois, in a rural setting, the Source des Dues trail invites you to enjoy a peaceful stroll through unspoilt countryside. Passing through open fields and rolling hills, you’ll reach the Source des Dues, which once supplied water to the whole village. Throughout the route, there are lovely views of the surrounding plains.

The Sentier de la Demoiselle is an invitation to escape for nature lovers and keen walkers. Mostly forested, it winds under the canopy of trees and offers a cool and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for a change of scenery. Quite demanding in places, it rewards walkers with access to the Étang de la Demoiselle, a true haven of tranquillity nestled in the heart of the woods. An ideal route for combining effort, calm and immersion in nature. The GPX track is required.

The Deux Étangs mountain bike trail is an ideal nature route for sports enthusiasts and thrill-seekers. Mainly set out through the forest, it alternates between fast-flowing paths, technical sections and short climbs that put your legs to the test. A true adventure crossing the entire Croix aux Bois State Forest from north to south, you’ll discover rugged landscapes and numerous small springs.

Starting from Montcheutin, the Sentier de la Gravette trail takes you to the heart of an authentic region on the edge ofthe Argonne Ardennaise. This pleasant hike leads you to the charming village of Grandham, where time seems to stand still. Between vast open fields and the peaceful landscapes of the Aisne Valley, let yourself be carried away by a rejuvenating walk, perfect for getting away from it all and discovering a preserved rural heritage.

The Pont d'Avrogne hike offers a variety of landscapes, including open countryside, wooded paths and peaceful rivers. Along the way, you will pass the Calvaire des Fusillés, a witness to local history, before reaching the remarkable confluence of the Aire valley, where you will discover typical riverside landscapes with remarkable wildlife.

This lovely walk through the Vouziers countryside offers a chance to get away from it all, starting from Vouziers, in a rural setting amongst fields, wooded areas and the tranquillity of the towpath along the canal.

Starting from Place Carnot, in the heart of Vouziers, the circular Boucle de la Chambre aux Loups invites you on a pleasant escape between town and country. Easy and accessible to the whole family, this hiking trail winds peacefully through the fields, offering beautiful open views and a breath of fresh air just a stone's throw from the houses. Ideal for an easy nature walk, this circular route combines simplicity, relaxation and the chance to discover the local heritage.

The ‘ Les héros d’Orfeuil’ mountain bike trail offers a family-friendly ride through the heart of the countryside and the open landscapes of the chalky Champagne region. Easy and accessible, this route combines nature and history: it passes through sites steeped in history, such as the site of the former German naval gun or the Orfeuil National Necropolis. The route also invites you to discover a dry grassland where rare orchids bloom.

Walk through the vast meadows between Autry and Condé-les-Autry (some of which are designated as a Natura 2000 site) and discover some of the war’s key events as you pass through the hamlet of La Mare aux Bœufs, which was a strategic point during the Great War. This trail can also start at the Mare aux Bœufs wash house, where you can choose to take the circular route or just the 5 km of the historical section. This part of the route features historical panels about the Great War.

A trail in the heart of the Argonne, nestled on the gaize where trees flourish and geological mysteries exist. The route allows you to get closer to and learn more about karst formations called "gouffres" (chasms).

The Noue trail is a family-friendly forest walk that charms visitors with its rolling landscapes and peaceful atmosphere. The route starts in the charming village of Toges, before heading into the woods and offering beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. It then leads to the hamlet of La Noue Adam, a timeless place where the calm and authenticity give the impression that time has stood still. The Sentier de la Linette is a pleasant walk suitable for the whole family, ideal for exploring the forest at a leisurely pace. Mostly shaded, it winds through the heart of the woods to the Étang de la Linette, a peaceful natural haven nestled in a preserved environment. All along the route, information boards invite young and old alike to learn more about the wildlife, flora and majestic trees that make up this beautiful forest. A fun and rejuvenating route, perfect for learning whilst you walk.

Forest route between Boult-aux-Bois and La Croix-aux-Bois.Set in a magnificent forest, this route largely follows the Sentier des Templiers (PR®14 of the Argonne Ardennaise Community of Communes). This trail is dotted with large, unusual sandstone blocks. These magnificent blocks mark the perimeter ditch that delimited the forest of the Commandery established in Boult-aux-Bois inthe 12th century.Along the way, you will pass the Fontaine aux Grès, the Blanche Borne, the Borne de Justice, the Gros Grès and the Malassises. All these places are evocative of Boux's past.

Traces of the Knights Templar dot this path, rich in geological mysteries and legends. Here, you can understand how these monk-knights shaped their surroundings and the forest. Follow the yellow footpath markings, No. 14.
