Description of the walk

Departure from the car park on Place René Bouré.

Yellow footpath signpost no. 17.

(S/E) With the church on your right, join the D946 and follow it to the right, then go up Rue des Quatre Frères Tellier, located on the left at the post office, and pass in front of the Château des Comtes de Joyeuse.

(1) At the bend, leave the small road and take the forest road on the left towards Notre-Dame du Châtelet. At the crossroads, you can choose to turn right to have a picnic and enjoy the view, or continue straight ahead on the path without going up it.

(2) At the edge of the woods, take the track opposite to continue along the white path for about 2.5 km.

(3) At the end of a straight stretch, turn left onto a path to the west to enter the national forest. After a fairly steep descent, turn right and then left 30 metres further on onto a small path. Continue along the marked forest path. Pass a series of chasms with information panels. At the chasms, take the path behind them and climb up to a crossroads.

(4) Take the track on the left to descend towards Fumuy. Continue straight ahead to leave the woods.

(5) At the crossroads, turn right to stay on the white path, which then turns into a small road at the Fumuy farm buildings.

(6) At the junction with a road near the methane digester, turn left onto the small road towards Talma. Cross the hamlet and its green valley landscapes, staying on the small road for about 2.5 km.

(7) Cross the D946 road with caution. At the junction with the D15, turn left towards Grandpré.

(8) Turn right down the Sentier du Neuf Moulin and walk along the grassy path to Rue du Clos.

(9) Continue straight ahead to reach the Church of Saint-Médard de Grandpré, arriving opposite the car park on Place René Bouré (S/E).

A lovely ride, rated as "moderate" but not really difficult. You cycle through the countryside, along paths and on small roads. Very peaceful – we only passed one other cyclist over the 13km! Highly recommended!
