Description of the walk

Along this path, there are 9 information boards about nature and a few local points of interest to read.

Yellow footpath marker no. 13.
5 km alternative route available.

(S/E) Starting from Rue de la Héronnière, opposite the Maison de la Nature, head towards Chemin des Vaches by turning left at the start sign. Continue by turning left at the recycling point junction, onto the white path, to leave the village. Pass the hunting lodge and follow the stream that runs alongside the meadows. Continue straight on along the white path (Information boards no. 1 and no. 2). You will reach a crossroads.

(1) Leave the return path on your left, continue into the national forest, and follow a small winding path through the trees. (Information sign no. 3). At the junction, veer slightly to the right and continue along the same path. When you reach the forest road, turn left and then right about 40 metres further on to rejoin a path through the undergrowth. Continue straight on until you reach a junction about a hundred metres further on, then turn left. (Information sign no. 4). Continue straight on along this path until you reach a spring. (Information sign no. 5)

(2) Back at the forest road, head up to the left and walk about 200 m along this road to find the start of a path.

(3) There are two options:
1) head down to the left to shorten the walk to just 5 km (see practical information).
2) continue straight on for about 300 m until you reach a fork (the option chosen on the map and in the description).

(4) Turn right, discover the Elephant Beech and walk straight on to the Étang de la Linette spot. (Information panel no. 6). When you reach the forest track, turn right. The Étang de la Linette site is ideal for a picnic and a rest. (Information panel no. 7).

(5) Enter the forest and continue round the pond to rejoin the forest path at the other end of the pond. In the woods, head up to the left then turn right after the climb. Continue straight ahead. At the junction, go straight on to skirt a plot currently undergoing regeneration, then veer slightly left and arrive at a T-junction.

(6) Turn left again. Continue straight on to reach the forest road. Head left for about 200 m, then turn right into the woods and follow the path, continuing straight on until you rejoin the forest road.

(7) Turn left again, then right some 150 m further on, heading down a slope that leads to some plantations. At the bottom, turn left onto a path through the plot (between young plantations on the left and woods on the right), then right again about 250 m further on to enter the woods. Continue straight ahead until you reach the last forest road on the route.

(8) Turn left. Pass by the Dauphin du Gros Chêne and then the foot of the Gros Chêne, where there is a picnic area. (Information boards no. 8 and no. 9).

(9) A few metres from the Gros Chêne, take the forest path on the right which runs alongside meadows. Keep going along this winding path through the trees, which leads back to the junction on the outward journey.

(1) Return to the crossroads, keeping to the right, rejoin the white track and head for Boult-aux-Bois via the reverse route of the outward journey (S/E).
