Locoal-Mendon walks

A magnificent bucolic walk in the Ria d'Étel, on the Locoal peninsula. It is also a historic site from the War in the Vendée, known for being the hideout of the Chouan Cadoudal. This walk is also very suitable for children.

10 km hike between Sainte-Hélène and the Ria d'Étel.

At the western end of Quiberon Bay, the Ria d'Étel, a stunning marriage of land and sea, stretches for over 22 km. This inlet is home to small authentic ports, secret beaches and famous oyster beds. I invite you to discover the Île de Saint-Cado in Belz, a charming site in the heart of the Ria d'Étel. Cross the stone bridge to discover a delightful little village with its fishermen's houses and chapel. The islet of Nichtarguer will charm you at first sight: a pretty house with blue shutters, a real picture postcard of the Ria. Then, at the foot of the Pont Lorois bridge, you will find the small Port Niscop. Follow the footpath and walk along this pretty, peaceful cove sheltered by the Ria d'Étel, which was once home to shipyards.

A short circular walk starting from Nostang with a lovely stretch along the coastal path.

The Ria d'Étel is always changing. At low tide, vast expanses of mudflats are interspersed with tiny or larger areas covered with all kinds of plants and birds. At high tide, it is the sea with its tiny or large islets. And inland, there is low-lying, sometimes marshy land with pine forests stretching to the coast, on sandy, sometimes rocky soil. And there is no shortage of colour. I have been there several times and the photos of the same place are never the same.

This delightful route between Auray and Brech will take you to the Saint-Degan Ecomuseum, Saint-Guérin Chapel with its 17th-century classical altarpiece and miraculous fountain, and Kerfroud Bridge, a remnant of the Gallo-Roman era. Follow an old Chouan trail to reach the Tréauray valley and the Loc'h river, then, after passing the Saint-Degan conservation orchard, return to the Ecomuseum

Hike along the Rivière d'Étel and the Rivière du Sac'h

This hike allows you to discover many monuments from the distant Neolithic period (5000 to 2500 BC). Dolmens, menhirs and cromlechs can be found throughout this very pretty hike.

Set off to explore the landscapes of Plouhinec, a Grand Site des Dunes Sauvages commune. This first circular of the landscape route takes you on a 9 km walk with seven illustrated stopping points through the rural, agricultural and coastal landscapes of Plouhinec. Throughout the walk, a white sand martin will guide you along the right path. Find the illustrated stopping points by clicking on the link in "practical information". Please note: part of this walk is on the dunes and therefore on sandy ground.

A pleasant walk through the town of Auray. This route will take you through the Saint-Gildas and Saint-Goustan districts, the port and the medieval bridge. You will walk along the Auray River (Loc'h), and from the castle, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the old town.

The rivers of Auray (Loc'h) and Sal (Bono) enjoy a preserved environment and a varied heritage: the Sainte-Avoye chapel and its rood screen, the boat cemetery and the old Bono bridge.

Discover a world-famous prehistoric site that takes you back 7,000 years! In addition to the famous alignments of Ménec and Kermario, the hike takes in the moving Manio quadrangle and the giant menhir of the same name, two tumuli, including the imposing Tumulus Saint-Michel topped by a chapel, and two ancient fountains. A very varied route through moors, woods and meadows.

Wet and dry moorland, woods, embankments, river, sea, mudflats, wet meadows... the natural environments are all interwoven here. The banks of the River Sal are also home to the Sainte-Avoye chapel.

This is a comfortable walk which, from the suspension bridge, follows the Bono river and then the banks of the Sal to the Téno cove, where it makes a circular loop through a landscape of reed beds, wet meadows and mudflats, made accessible by a boardwalk covering a few hundred metres. A viewing platform allows you to observe and understand this natural habitat, which is home to many rare plant and animal species. The return trip via Sainte-Avoye offers the opportunity to visit a beautiful16th-century chapel.

Starting from Le Bono, this hike will allow you to discover the coastline of the Bras du Bono to the chapel of Saint-Avoye. Then, crossing the countryside, you will pass along the Bras de l'Auray river to Saint-Goustan. There is little road and a pretty path along the two rivers (on the right side of the Gulf of Morbihan). Beautiful hike which, in its first part, follows the Bono river then crosses countryside and undergrowth to return to the starting point. Very few roads, nice path.

Start from the old bridge at Le Bono, down along the river to the bay "Baie de Kerdréan". The hike is partly along the gulf and partly in the countryside. It starts with the Tumulus de Kernourz and runs halfway along the Manoir de Kerdréan.

This route takes you all the way around Pointe de Saint-Colomban. A beautiful part of the route follows the GR®34 along the coast, but you will also discover the small village of Saint-Colomban and its church.

From the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer, "the Mecca of sailing", the coastal path leads from beach to beach to the Pointe de Kerbihan and its viewpoint over Quiberon Bay. It continues on to the recently rehabilitated Kervillen salt marshes.

Starting from Avenue de l'Atlantique near the Carnac thalassotherapy centre, the walk allows you to discover the coast and its beaches before heading into the countryside to see the alignments, dolmens, cromlechs and menhirs, before returning to the beaches.

Hike around Saint-Colomban between coastal paths and the Saint-Colomban Chapel.

This circular route from Carnac to La Trinité-sur-Mer will allow you to discover the beauty of Carnac's beaches. The Île de Stuhan and its tombolo are a sight not to be missed. You will enjoy the customs officers' path from Pointe de Kerbihan to La Trinité. On the way back, you can enjoy the tranquillity of the Kerdual marsh and visit Carnac town centre.

This hike invites you to explore the treasures of Saint-Philibert: peaceful shores, wild beaches, military ruins and sacred heritage, culminating in the starry chapel. Along the way, a seafood tasting awaits you for a gourmet break facing the ocean.

A hike through forest and heritage: Lanvaux national forest, Saint-Mériadec chapel, Notre-Dame de Fatima aux Granges, the tomb of the seven holes and the forest pond.

A hike dominated by stone, water, moss and trees! The route, mainly through forest, crosses numerous streams and offers views of two beautiful menhirs and the remains of a dolmen.

The blacksmiths' route will take you from the banks of the Blavet, which was canalised inthe 19th century, to the green hills of the Trémelin Forest. A walk in the heart of unspoilt nature, once exploited for the Kerglaw Forges, which produced iron to meet the needs of Breton canneries.

Or how to take a leisurely trip from Hennebont to Pontivy? There are a few sections with cars and lots of pedestrians at the start and finish, but otherwise it's just hikers and cyclists. It's a peaceful route for walking or cycling.The landscape changes as you follow the river, making this a peaceful walk, but it can be challenging: 60 km there (and possibly the same back).Here and there, you will find places to quench your thirst and eat, but make sure you take everything you need with you. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the countryside.

An easy loop starting from Hennebont. Pass through Saint-Antoine, Saint-Gilles, the Quelennec lock, and return to Hennebont via the towpath through Lochrist. 9/08/2023 Message from the moderator: following feedback, the hike has been modified at point 9 to avoid passing through private property.

A forest route dotted with numerous Neolithic remains, including a row of around fifty menhirs, most of which are lying down. The remains of a Gallo-Roman camp and a very pleasant walk along the Ruisseau de Trideur stream complete the picture.

Located 4km from the town centre, this peninsula, approximately 1km long and 200m wide, offers magnificent views of the Gulf of Morbihan along a delightful path lined with pine trees and mimosas. A superb walk between "Argoat" and "Armor" (Land and Sea). Allow 1 hour 20 minutes to complete the entire walk and take breaks to admire the scenery.

The upper jaw that closes the Gulf of Morbihan is dotted with stone teeth. The circuit around the Pointe de Locmariaquer stretches from the ocean to the peaceful shores of the Gulf, stopping off at several of the sites that have made this megalithic site famous. NB: It appears that the passage between points 5 and 6 is no longer possible. Follow theGR® 34 markings, which have themselves been modified.

Leaving from Locmariaquer, this hike takes in the coastline of the Golfe du Morbihan, the entrance to the gulf with a view of Port Navalo, and then on to the coast and even the ocean. Along the way, you'll discover numerous dolmens and megalithic sites (including the famous Table des Marchands). ⚠️Several problems on this hike, see reviews.
