Le Noyer walks

Following in the footsteps of botanist Dominique Villars, this trail, marked with information panels, allows you to discover the incredible diversity of the Champsaur vegetation.

A refreshing route leading to the Cabane des Pierres, entirely through a beautiful coniferous forest: the Grand Bois de Poligny. This charming little spot allows you to discover the Champsaur, sheltered at the foot of the great peaks.

This route takes you from vegetation (the first part is through a beautiful coniferous forest) to rock (the final ascent is over scree). At the pass, you look out over the Cirque de Chaudun (south side) where the Petit Buëch river has its source, but although you can see Ceuze, the view is mainly towards the Écrins peaks.

A wild hike between Ecrins and Dévoluy. Off-trail highlights include pastures, mouflons and a 360° view stretching from the Obiou to the Parpaillon, taking in the great massifs of the Écrins. You’ll look down over the Chaudun cirque and its history.

A hike accessible to all, from 7 to 77 years old! Without difficulty, it offers a breathtaking panorama of the Champsaur valley and its bocage. The Devoluard fauna can be abundant, for the enjoyment of young and old alike! The pass road is closed during winter (check for information).

In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful hikes in the area. It offers views of the Champsaur and Gapençais valleys.

This circular walk allows you to discover one of the Champsaur’s treasures: one of the few remaining preserved bocage landscapes. As you follow the educational information boards, the trail winds its way through hedgerows, canals and sunken lanes…

This hike is a classic. It will first take you over modest heights offering beautiful panoramic views of the Dévoluy valley and its mountain backdrop, then through a small but nonetheless spectacular gorge, all around the pretty village of Saint-Étienne-en-Dévoly.

The route starts off steeply from Les Cypières, after which the walk presents no particular difficulties.

A walk along the valley floor, at the foot of the Pic de Bure.Le Dévoluy is known for being dry; the vast majority of the water is underground and seeps away into the limestone massif! However, it does offer a few surprises, with waterfalls here and there providing a touch of coolness.This route, accessible to all and requiring no special equipment, first crosses the Bois Rond before heading towards the meadows and then descending through the woods along a clearly marked path, designated GRP® in 2026.

A beautiful hike that first winds through the Bois Rond before climbing up into the mountain pastures. Be warned, in good weather there will not be much shade. You will climb up to the source of the Souloise. Please respect the peace and quiet of the herds and shepherds.

A pleasant walk through meadows and woods, starting on aGR®(easy) route and returning via the higher forest path with a slight climb.

A balcony walk with views of the Champsaurin bocage, the Chaîne du Faraut, the Banc du Peyron and the Petit Chaillol mountain.

A challenging and rugged hike beneath the ridges of Banc du Peyron and Moussière.

This is a long circular loop that takes you along the two possible hiking routes on this side of the mountain. The difficulty is mainly due to the length. The elevation gain is also significant and some passages require great care (cables).

This pleasant circular route starting from the Superdévoluy resort is ideal for a family outing. It offers beautiful panoramic views throughout the route. Halfway along, a designated viewing point provides a chance to admire the Gorges des Étroits, the village of Saint-Étienne-en-Dévoluy and the Faraut mountain. Short, easy and accessible to all-terrain pushchairs, it follows wide paths with no technical difficulties (apart from the optional climb to the summit of Le Puy). The route is also well-suited to those new to mountain biking, thanks to its gentle gradient and smooth terrain. In winter, it also makes for a pleasant snowshoe walk, snow conditions permitting.

Pic de Bure, one of the three giants of Dévoluy, is technically the most accessible but includes a section with a cable. You will arrive in a lunar landscape, among the observatory's satellite dishes. In good weather, the view is extraordinary. There may be a few herds on the plateau. A more recent route also offers the option of starting from the Joue du Loup resort.

A short, easy walk, suitable for everyone, easily manageable with children as a circular route starting from Superdévoluy. Magnificent views of the Pic de Bure, the Montagne de Faraud and the Obiou.

An 8-shaped loop that will take you through the Bois Rond before exploring two valleys and approaching the Pic de Bure rock face. You will have completed the Crête d'Âne loop.

A good walk to warm up or test your fitness. It takes you past some of the Dévoluy’s sights: the ruins of Malmort, the Puy des Bans, climbing and via ferrata sites, and the Giant Cairn. No particular difficulties, apart from a tricky section with a handrail and small footbridges – which are optional – to access and exit the Puy des Bans and head back up towards a small pass.

An easy loop starting from a village in Dévoluy, Le Courtil. This loop can be done in the other direction (which I prefer...), offering a beautiful view of the Pic de Bure.

Mainly along ridges and through woodland, this route offers breathtaking views of the Dévoluy. The valley and hamlets, the Pic de Bure and its plateau, the Obiou massif and the Montagne de Faraut, emerging at every bend, will take your breath away.

Three pretty valleys to visit, two passes to cross (without difficulty) and, as a bonus, a breathtaking view of the Pic de Bure cliff. You will encounter sheep, marmots and chamois. Water in the pools!

End of June 2025: A few changes!!! The GR® route between Le Barry and La Bergerie is currently being modified… it’s “more or less” marked out, on the right bank of the (dry) stream, but not signposted.Before La Bergerie, at the wooden post, where there are no markings, take the small path leading off to the right. It has been cleared, with the low branches cut back, but it is not (yet) signposted. It runs close to the road and goes round La Bergerie and the sheep pens. When you reach the road, another post marks a path that climbs to the left and joins the GR®, below the Col de la Saume. A beautiful pyramid that can be spotted from afar.A long walk, without any real difficulty, offering plenty of variety: water, woodland, mountain pastures and herds, a small summit, villages – something to delight everyone. Panoramic views over the Champsaur, the Écrins and, of course, the Dévoluy.

A walk that takes you through the forests of the Dévoluy, past sheepfolds and flocks, then up along the local stream.

Sometimes you don’t need to climb very high to gain altitude: the Crête des Baumes, which overlooks the resorts of Super-Dévoluy and La Joue du Loup, offers 360° views across the whole of the Dévoluy and its mountainous ramparts. This is a short walk perfect for a rest day, for example, between two longer hikes.

A short hike offering a breathtaking panorama (certainly the most beautiful) of the Pic de Bure and a chance to watch the herds and the marmots at play, much to the delight of young and old alike. The descent, whilst safe, is a little more challenging for tired little legs...

A very beautiful hike that will take you to the foot of the famous Pic de Bure cliff and the "Desmaison" climbing route. Superb view of the Dévoluy. Please note that due to the risk of rockfalls, a prefectural decree dated 14/06/2014 prohibits access to the foot of the Bure cliffs until further notice.

The ascent of the Crête de la Plane offers superb views of the Pic de Bure and the whole of Dévoluy. The first part of the hike, up to the Col de Rabou, follows theGRP® du Tour du Dévoluy, which is very well marked. After Col de Rabou, the route is no longer marked and is off-trail. There are no particular difficulties as you follow the ridge. However, good visibility and the ability to navigate with a map and compass are required.

A lovely ridge walk, largely off-trail and at times steep. The final section of the ascent to the pass takes place in an alpine setting, over uncertain terrain where you must find your own way as best you can, with no marked trail. You should only attempt this if you are well accustomed to steep, off-trail alpine terrain. Walking poles, or even an ice axe, may prove very useful.

Climb one of the Champsaur peaks from the Laye ski resort, enjoying the cool forest, rocky ravines and earthy slopes. The initial loop gives way to a round-trip climb. The final section is on a beautiful ridge with steep slopes on either side.

At the gateway to the Massif des Écrins, near Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur, this superb loop hike begins with a gentle ascent through a magnificent larch forest. Along the way, the lush green vegetation accompanies you to the foot of the Col du Cendrier, where the slope gradually levels out. The effort is rewarded by a wide panoramic view of the Massif des Écrins.The traverse of the Crêtes du Barry adds a welcome technical touch, giving the route an extra touch of character. The return, via the Pas and then the Col de l'Escalier, is on a pleasant, flowing path.A beautiful hike, where the spring flora comes into its own with every step.

A hike mainly through woodland, becoming steep towards the end, offering views of the Champsaur valley and Vieux Chaillol.

A varied countryside walk with spectacular views over the Champsaur and the Dévoluy. Unfortunately, there are a few tarmac sections, but these roads are very quiet. The route passes the Trois Croix viewpoint and the curious Chapelle des Pétètes, also known as the Chapelle Saint-Grégoire.

From the Col de Gleize, climb towards the Pic de Gleize, then descend towards the ruins of the village of Chaudun and climb back up to the Col de Gleize.

A climb to the Pic de Gleize from the pass of the same name and a descent via the Chaudun circular trail to enjoy a beautiful route with little elevation gain but lots of rockfall.

A short circular loop that leads to the second part, on the ridges of La Greysinière, with some tricky sections. Can be done in addition to another walk from the Col de Gleize car park.

A round trip to this village at the foot of the Montagne de Chaudun.

Discover the village of Chaudun and its history. Walking along the patrol path, you realise how difficult it must have been for the inhabitants to survive there at the time, in a village isolated from everything else in a hostile environment, especially in winter.

A circular route leading to the ridges of La Greysinière with exposed sections, but offering exceptional views of the Ceüze, Bure, Dévoluy, Écrins, Embrunais, Blanche and Monges mountains. Starting at Col de Gleize helps to minimise the elevation gain.

Much of this hike takes place on a ridge with aerial passages, offering numerous panoramic views.

A circular route leading to the Guizière ridges whilst avoiding the overly exposed sections of the Greysinière ridges.Starting at the Col de Gleize keeps the elevation gain to a minimum, whilst offering exceptional views of the Ceüze, Bure, Dévoluy, Écrins, Embrunais, Ubaye (Montagne de la Blanche) and Monges mountain ranges.

An exceptional view from the summit of Gicon!

This short hike takes you quickly to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Dévoluy, offering views of the entire syncline and the peaks of Vercors Nord, Chartreuse, Taillefer and Oisans. The view towards the turquoise Sautet Lake is spectacular and, with a bit of luck, a sea of clouds will add a romantic touch to the landscape. Grouse and chamois abound on the slopes of the Gicon and can be seen if you are discreet enough.

Easy hike up to the Col de l'Aup via the Queyras ravine, below the Montagne de Faraut.

Starting from La Joue du Loup, head for Les Crêtes de Baumes on an easy hike offering magnificent views of the Dévoluy range, the Gicon, the Farraut range and the Pic de Bure.

Starting from La Joue du Loup, this short route is ideal for little ones. As a circular route, it offers panoramic views of the Obiou massif and the Pic de Bure. If you’re patient and quiet, you can watch the marmots playing on the grassy slopes below the small pass of the Tat.

This is a circular walk with no real difficulties except for the steep climb between small pass du Tat and the summit of Crête des Baumes. You can enjoy magnificent scenery for almost the entire hike.

Starting from Molines-en-Champsaur, this circular route takes you to the Cabane de Londonnière via a mountain trail, then ends with a gentle descent along a forest path beside the Muande torrent.

Family hike through the woods to the beautiful Peyron Roux forest cabin. When you arrive, you'll feel like you're standing in front of the seven dwarfs' house... the dark larch forest has a lot to do with it!

A pleasant circular walk around the Torrent de la Muande, in the Séveraissette valley at Molines-en-Champsaur. Almost entirely shaded along its entire route, this walk is particularly suitable during the summer heat. The climb is fairly gentle and pleasant as far as the Cabane de Londonnière. The footpath crosses several small streams before reaching the ruined hamlet of Sellon at the bottom of the valley. The return route takes you past the enchanting site of the Cabane de Suzaire, where huge boulders in the forest lend the place a unique charm, before descending beneath the Baisses de la Juberne. A walk that allows you to discover one of the prettiest valleys in the Champsaur!

The steep slope on the right bank of the Séveraissette valley is home to the trail crossing the Col de l'Ardouère, which winds boldly through the rugged terrain of a complex and grandiose landscape. Be careful! While the climb up the eastern slope is accessible, the descent down the western slope has some exposed, even vertiginous sections where the slightest slip could be fatal.

The final destination of this almost round-trip itinerary, the Col de Font Froide offers an exceptional view of the Écrins massif. In the distance: Barre des Écrins, Pic Coolidge, Ailefroide, Les Bans... And nearby: Pic de Colle Blanche, Brèche de l'Homme Étroit, Tête de Mal Cros, Pointe des Moutières, Pic de Parières, Aiguille de Morges. Far below: the Navette valley in Valgaudemar. A high mountain atmosphere is guaranteed on this pass, which is accessible via a footpath!

A shaded path starting from the church at Saint-Disdier, which runs along the banks of the Souloise to the Puits des Bancs. After crossing the torrent via footbridges, part of the route is somewhat steep but secured by cables and rungs to reach the top of the gorges. A true natural gem in the heart of the Dévoluy, the luckiest visitors may spot brown trout and red-legged frogs, not to mention stunning views of the Dévoluy peaks.

A beautiful circular loop around the Col Bayard oxygenation centre, very varied and without any significant elevation gain, offering 360-degree views and breathtaking vistas of the Champsaur.

This refreshing walk on the Col Bayard takes you into the heart of a plateau dedicated to sports enthusiasts at an altitude of 1,300 metres! A fairly gentle and varied route, with paths through the woodland, shaded trails and small hills with a slight elevation gain. Breathtaking views over the Champsaur.

The easiest route to explore the Bure massif in summer, ascending via the ski resort’s chairlifts (open one day a week in July and August only). The plateau offers a lunar landscape with the observatory’s satellite dishes, and in clear weather, the view from the Pic de Bure is extraordinary. The route is described here starting from La Joue du Loup, but there is a similar route starting from SuperDévoluy. Please note: this route is only accessible during the summer opening period of the ski lifts!

A fairly wild trail that generally follows the bank of the torrent, offering a beautiful natural atmosphere and views of small waterfalls. The outward route is accessible to families with children, mostly in the shade with the coolness of the torrent.

A pleasant walk, accessible to all, where you can take your children along, under supervision of course.The trickier sections are protected. Take your time.Enjoy the view of the crushing foothills of Dévoluy and discover an unusual phenomenon: the resurgent source of Haute Gillarde and its confluence with La Souloise.

An easy, family-friendly walk from the hamlet of La Chaup to Le Séchier. The outward leg takes you through the woods alongside the Canal des Herbeys via theGRP® du Tour du Vieux Chaillol, whilst the return leg follows the road for part of the way and then runs alongside the Séveraisse.

From the Maison Forestière des Sauvas (in the commune of Montmaur), a short family circular route through the forest, beneath the imposing south face of the Bure plateau and its vast scree slopes.The gentle gradient makes this walk suitable for children, even young ones.

1 November 2025: a user reports => this concerns the route between the wps (6), (7), and (8).Geoportal (Biotope protection decrees) (!) WARNING (!) This hike crosses the perimeter of the prefectural decree for the protection of the Plateau de Bure biotope, in which it is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to leave the marked trails, under penalty of a 4th class fine of €750. For the time being, the agents of the French Office for Biodiversity, responsible for enforcing this decree, are taking a preventive approach, but they will surely soon move on to enforcement. Access to the Plateau de Bure off the beaten track. This alpine hike via the Pas de Paul offers an unusual and wild setting, through devolved steps, vertical corridors marked by large staircases. This variant allows you to reach the westernmost peaks of the Bure plateau, the Tête des Pras Arnaud and the Tête de la Cluse, before the Pic de Bure.

The Dévoluy massif offers a striking contrast of colours between the pure blue of the sky and the ochre of the rocks in its trio of peaks (Obiou, Grand Ferrand, Pic de Bure). Warning! The descent via the Combe de Mai, from (4) to (1), is prohibited outside the winter months for the first few hundred metres. See the prefectural decree on the protection of the Plateau de Bure biotope.

A lovely walk along the Gap balconies. From the Lac des Jaussauds picnic area, the route descends along the route of the old (and never completed) Gap–La Mure railway line, including a crossing of the Buzon viaduct, recently converted into a cycle route.It then climbs back up to the Réserve des Manes, passes the Peyre Ossel boulder, and follows the Canal de Gap to the Réserve Georges Serres, offering beautiful panoramic views of the Gap region.

From the Maison Forestière des Sauvas (in the commune of Montmaur), this round-trip route is the easiest way to climb the Tête Plumée and then the Pic Chauve via the Col des Sérigons.The route runs mainly through woodland, with a few clearings offering views of the landscape, all the way to the Pic Chauve, which overlooks the upper valley of the Petit Buëch and offers stunning panoramic views.
