Description of the walk

The circular route can be started from several locations (Pisançon, Belvédère des Trois Croix or Charbillac). We recommend parking in the centre of the hamlet of Charbillac, in the car park at the corner of Rue des Fontaines and Chemin des Randonneurs.

Half of this walk follows the Champsaur Trail 7 markings and the other half follows theGR®50markings.

(S/E) Go down Rue des Fontaines and turn right to leave the village (Trail 7 markings). At the first fork in the forest path, turn left, pass under a power line and continue downhill to the D23 departmental road.

(1) Turn left and follow the road for 100 metres.
In front of the "Château Robert" holiday centre, leave the D23 road by turning right and take the forest track, heading towards Pisançon, slightly downhill. You will come out onto a road.

(2) Follow this road, cross the Pisançon stream and arrive at the hamlet of Pisançon, which you will cross.

(3) Turn left to leave the hamlet, climbing along the road. Cross the D23 district road to reach the forest path opposite. Continue climbing through the forest. When you leave the forest, continue climbing along the road. You will find a path after a left-hand bend.

(4) Leave the road and turn right onto this small path which runs alongside a few houses and then enters a pine forest. Follow the Trail 7 markings, continuing to climb to the Belvédère des Trois Croix viewpoint. Take the opportunity to enjoy the view and have a look at the orientation table.

(5) Leave the viewpoint via the road and take the forest path that runs alongside the road (Trail 7 markings).

(6) At this T-junction, turn left and follow the road downhill. Here, you leave the Trail 7 markings.
As you cross the hamlet of L'Auberie, take a moment to admire the Chapelle des Petêtes chapel, then climb up to Le Gourjou.

(7) Turn left off the road onto a forest path towards Charbillac. Climb up through the Bois du Clier, then continue along the edge of the forest. Now follow theGR®50markings to Charbillac (S/E).

A pleasant route, made more difficult by the fact that it was completed on 12 August in 36°C heat.
The climb to Trois-Croix is quite steep, but fortunately it is in the forest.

As described, the start of the circular route in the centre of the hamlet of Charbillac is ideal (a descent to warm up before the sometimes steep but easy climbs). Especially as the hamlet's dog accompanied and "guided" us all the way (he knows this route very well and was waiting for us at every intersection)!
For those who prefer to start with the climb and finish with the descent, it is better to start from Pisançon.
It's lovely in autumn with the colours of the trees, but don't leave it too late in the season as it gets cold quickly in Champsaur. Best done on a sunny day.
A picnic at the Belvédère des Trois Croix is recommended for its view and tables.
And the Petêtes chapel is a must-see.
