Park in the car park of Maissubert church above Les Costes. Do not disturb services, the times of which are indicated on the church door.
(S/E) Head towards the top of the village until you reach a crossroads.
(1) Turn right and continue along the road for about 250 metres.
(2) Before the top of the hill, leave the road and take the path on the left. Immediately turn right onto the path parallel to the road you have just left, which leads to the top of the village of Mallarua. Pass two houses, cross the road and take the path opposite, above the newly renovated bread oven. Sign: Lac de Réoffant.
(3) Keep left and follow the track to the ford that crosses the Ruisseau des Courts stream. Continue until you reach a track.
(4) Turn left. Keep left at the next junction and continue until you are about ten metres from the end of the track.
(5) A path, which we need to take, rises on the left, marked by a red dot on the gate post. This path heads north and leads to Torrent des Courts (1,477 m).
(6) Cross the torrent and continue along the path, which becomes a balcony. There are a few passages that require a little attention but no technical difficulty. Continue until you approach Torrent Notre-Dame (elevation 1490.6).
(7) Turn left. The steep, winding descent requires some caution, especially if the ground is slippery. After a section through the woods, you will reach a forest track (altitude 1248 m).
(8) Take the track on the left that leads to the lake and ignore the paths on the left. You will reach the picnic area.
(9) Walk around the lake in the desired direction to return to the picnic area.
(9) Take the path that quickly heads south and joins the road at Maissubert further down. Follow the road to the left.
(1) At the crossroads you passed on the way there, turn right to return to the starting point (S/E).
