Refine your search for walks in Grächen
Grächen walks
Grachen - Europahutte
Grachen, an important village, dominates the Zermatt valley, which you will be flying over all day. After a gentle climb to Saint-Nicolas on its pedestal, you just need to pass from scree to scree to reach the welcome Refuge d'Europahutte after a long traverse.
Valais Day 7: Grachen - Saas-Fee
So here's the last stage of this itinarary and what a stage! A delightful climb reaching Hannigalp to find the well-known balcony trail overlooking the valley leading to Saas Fee.
Tour du Cervin Day 7 : Saint Nicklaus - Gruben
Beautiful mountain stage going through a pass by the name of Augstbordpass.
Sankt Niklaus - Zermatt
This fourteenth and final stage is the longest, but does not present any difficulties. The route from Sankt Niklaus to Zermatt is obvious. It follows the Matter Vispa, the river that flows down from Zermatt, and the rack railway line, which terminates in Zermatt. All the ingredients for a picture-postcard Swiss scene are there: the Matterhorn, glaciers, the torrent, churches with bulbous steeples, the little rack railway and the magnificent car-free village of Zermatt.
Gspon - Simplon Hospice
A pleasant trail through the woods will take you to Gibidumpass, a viewpoint overlooking the Rhône Valley. You will gradually descend into the Nanztal, a quiet valley at the foot of the Fletschhorn. The Bistine Pass is the last pass to cross to complete this lovely loop and admire the Fletschhorn one last time. As you descend towards the Simplon Pass, Monte Leone will catch your eye.
Gspon - Simplon Hospiz
Final stage to finish at the Hospice (du Simplon). To round off this hike in style, you must spend a night at the Hospice du Simplon, where you will receive a warm welcome.
Hike with a brief description, to be followed with the Visorando app.
Tour du Cervin Day 6: Europahutte - Gasenreid (then Saint Nicklaus)
A new balcony stage at the foot of high summits separating the Zermatt and Saas Fee valleys.
Europahütte - Europaweghütte
Due to the closure of the large Himalayan footbridge over the Grabengufer scree, it is necessary to take the emergency path down to Tasch and then undertake a remarkable climb to the alpine hamlet of Täschalp, where the Europaweghütte lodge is located.
Saas Fee - Grachen
A long balcony stage allowing you to climb up the Saas Fée valley, dominating it by about 500m and sometimes more. A spectacular route passing from one valley floor to another, with the special feature of being able to see the next change in valley floor in the distance.
Gruben - Sankt Niklaus
This thirteenth stage takes place in the high mountains and, depending on the season, may involve crossing snowfields. The trail is shared with the Apenpässe-Weg, marked with green vignettes No. 6. From the hotel, the trail climbs towards the Augstbordpass, crossing alpine pastures to Grüobu Oberstafel. Then the landscape becomes increasingly rocky until you reach the Augstbordpass. At the pass, you will have earned a well-deserved break. The descent continues through numerous scree slopes and rock fields, but the path is always well marked. From Abiheiji (Twraa Ridge), the route to Jungen is more pleasant and the path is often paved. From Jungen, there is still an 850-metre descent to Sankt Niklaus. (You can take the cable car to avoid this last descent.)
Tour du Cervin day 8: Gruben - Saint Luc (then Zinal)
The next stage to this mountain hike with a stop at Saint-Luc then a transfer by postbus to Zinal.
Valais day 6: Gruben - Grachen
Today's stage is divided into three: from Gruben to Jungu by foot, Jungu to Saint-Niklaus by cable car and Saint-Niklaus to Grachen by coach.
Saas-Almagell - Gspon
You will return to Almageller Alp via the Almagellerhorn adventure trail, which is marked with ladders, steps and a suspension bridge. The trail returns to the Saas Valley and remains at almost the same altitude until Kreuzboden. From this balcony, you can admire the Mischabel massif and the resort of Saas Fee. Overlooking the Saastal and at the foot of the Fletschorn, you will walk through old pastures. You will pass through several Walser hamlets before arriving in Gspon.
Saas Almagell - Gspon
Balcony stage above the Saastal.

From the Simplon Pass (Valais) to San Bernardino (Graubünden)
After "From the Great Saint Bernard Pass to Simplon Pass", here is "From Simplon Pass to San Bernardino Pass".
This is not the return journey from the Great Saint Bernard to Simplon after a language study trip to Italy, but rather the continuation of the route to the San Bernardino Pass in the canton of Graubünden. This hike requires a very good level of fitness, with several stages involving more than 1,300 metres of elevation gain or loss. After two days in Wallis (German-speaking Valais), the atmosphere becomes completely Italian: two days in Italy (Val Formazza), nine days in Ticino (Tessin in Italian), and two days in Grigioni (Grisons in Italian). Lake Maggiore and Locarno are also on the itinerary.
Hike without description to be followed with the Visorando app.
Simplon Hospiz - Rosswald
Departure from the Simplon Hospice. From the hospice, take the Stockalperweg on the right after the tunnel under the Simplon road. Follow the signs for Rothwald. At Rothwald, the trail continues on the other side of the road and leads to Wäse and then Wintrigmatte. The trail bypasses the Furggubaum torrent at Scrickboden at the foot of the Furggubaumlicke and begins to climb towards the Bortelhütte. The trail descends towards the Schiess torrent (small bridge) and climbs slightly towards Stafel, which offers a panoramic view of the Bortelhorn. A gravel road leads to the top of the village of Rosswald.Markings: White-Red-White.

Fletschorn Tour
A remarkable tour on little-used trails where nature has remained unspoilt. The Fletschhorn is just seven metres short of reaching 4,000 metres. In this massif, it stands alongside taller peaks such as the Lagginhorn (4,010 metres) and the Weissmies (4,017 metres), but it has nevertheless given its name to this route: the Simplon Fletschhorn Trekking (SFT).
This route requires excellent physical condition, as some stages are quite long and have a steep elevation gain. See practical information
Simplon Hospice - Zwischbergen
Although Napoleon was responsible for the construction of the Simplon Hospice, this Alpine pass, already frequented by the Romans, has been developed many times. In the 17th century, Kaspar Stockalper developed a mule track here. From the Simplon Hospice to Simplon Dorf and Gabi, you will follow this path, known as the Stockalperweg. After Gabi, crossing the Furggu pass, you will descend into the steep-sided Zwischbergen valley.
Europaweg-Hütte - Théodule refuge
Due to the closure of the Europaweg trail between Täschalp and Zermatt, we had to modify the original route. Return to Täsch via another trail and, given the long distance to cover, take the shuttle to Zermatt. Short break in this unique town at the foot of the Matterhorn, cable car to Trockener Steg and then walk to the Théodule refuge.
Täschhütte from Täschalp
After a winding toll road, park at Täschalp. Then, continue climbing to the Täschhütte refuge located at the top of a rocky outcrop. Return via a slightly different route, after enjoying a delicious homemade soup at the refuge.
