(S) Head towards the lake and follow the path to the junction.
(1) Turn right heading north (even though the sign points west towards Grüben). Follow a steady path, which remains at an altitude of 2,000 metres; it may be relatively exposed in places, but is secured by fixed ropes or a footbridge.
(2) After going round the Twära, the path veers north-north-west and descends gently towards the Embdbach torrent. Then continue straight on.
(3) Continue in the same direction.
(4) Cross the stream and the path then climbs until it reaches the Augstbordstafel alpine pastures.
(5) The path heads westwards, climbing to the junction at 2,500 metres, where you join the Matterhorn Round Trip route as shown on the maps.
(6) Continue the ascent until you finally reach the Col d’Augbord.
(7) Descend, initially skirting a small lake on the left.
(8) Carry on until you come to a stream.
(9) Follow it until you reach another alpine hut at Grüobu Oberstafel.
(10) The path then descends more steeply until you reach Grüben (E).
