Giuncheto walks

Short circular walk through the Corsican scrubland leading to the old sheepfold of Paccialu di a Sarra, then to Punta di Pitone (577m) where there is a beautiful view of the village of Giuncheto, the Ortolu valley and the Cagna mountain.

This is a round-trip hike that leads to a summit at an altitude of 1,217 metres. At the end of the climb, rising up from a jumble of black granite, stands the Uomo di Cagna, a balancing rock formation. The summit plateau offers a beautiful view of the southern coastline.

A short climb of an hour and a half there and back through the scrubland and a beautiful forest of holm oaks to the ruins of the village of A Chjava. The path is very rugged at the start but ends with a pretty trail through the undergrowth. A Chjava is a small hamlet of about ten houses, built in the 17th century and abandoned in the following century. Located in the municipality of Tivolaggio, it still has some beautiful remains, evidence of its wealth at the time of its construction.

This very easy short hike starts in Monaccia-d'Aullène and follows the heritage trail, which leads to the Mesolithic Orii, which have had many uses over time (farming, livestock breeding, bandit hideouts, resistance, etc.). The circuit also features old mill buildings. __Please note__: although easy, this loop is not suitable for children or people with reduced mobility.

The empty beach of Erbaghu is probably one of the most beautiful in Corsica and, incidentally, an extraordinary example of tafunate erosion. Return via the Rocapine Tower.

Hike through the beautiful Tizzano area to the Senetosa lighthouse.

Starting from Campomoro, this circular hike is not difficult. Along the coast, rocky landscapes give way to coves and inlets. At Cala d'Aguglia (the southernmost point of the route), where calm reigns, it is worth taking a break to admire this cove that stretches inland and enjoy its beautiful beach. The return journey takes you inland through the scrubland, offering beautiful views of the coast and finally the Gulf of Propriano.

From Campomoro to Senetosa.

The Bouches de Bonifacio nature reserve.

Starting from Poggio di Tallano, this circular route without any particular difficulties allows you to admire the Chapel of San Giovanni (St John the Baptist, a beautiful Romanesque church) and visit the pretty villages of Altagène, Sant'Andréa and Sainte-Lucie-de-Tallano. There are many old buildings, fortified houses and an old oil mill along the way. Most of the route follows sunken paths, but this does not prevent you from enjoying magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.

Only one climb and one descent, but what a beautiful view awaits you. View of the villages of Alta Rocca: Zonza, Quenza and Serra di Scopamène, as well as the Bavella Needles.

From Porto Pollo, a picturesque trail through the scrubland leads to the Genoese tower of Capanella, where free access to the top offers a magnificent view of the pretty bay of Cupabia, Punta and the cove of Capanella.

The 360° views from the summit over the bay of Porto-Vecchio, the Ospedale dam and the Alta Rocca are well worth the final climb, which is short but quite tough. The loop starts near the Cartalavonu lodge, Le Refuge.

A pleasant walk along the coast with the option of stopping at a beach and exploring a Genoese tower.

A superb hike in the Bouches de Bonifacio Natural Park. A refreshing walk along the coastline with a detour into the Étang de la Testarella wetland. It feels like walking through a landscaped garden filled with flowers in spring. A pleasant walk in any season. The return route offers a different viewpoint, preventing monotony. Three and a half hours including stops for this walk, which is one of our favourites. Once again, there is a wide choice of beaches and rocks. Can be combined with the Punta di Ventilegne circular.

At the gateway to Alta Rocca, this moderately difficult hike allows you to enjoy the exquisite scents of the maquis in spring. The route begins with a pleasant woodland trail before reaching the ridge, which offers views of the Taravo valley and the Rizzanèze valley. From San Petru, there is a magnificent panoramic view of the Gulf of Valinco (Propriano) as far as the Gulf of Ajaccio. On the way back, the descent is opposite the Aiguilles de Bavella.

Circular starting from the top of the village of Petreto, with a route leading through the undergrowth on the ridge overlooking the Taravo valley to the north and the Rocca valley to the south. From this ridge, there are beautiful views of the valleys, the Gulf of Propriano and Ajaccio in the distance. The route passes by the memorial to the plane crash of December 1981 before descending to the Col de Vélica and then back to the starting point through a pretty deciduous wood.

A beautiful hike on the Sardinian plateau via the village of Aullène. Some of these trails connected villages in the days before roads existed. They are ideal for exploring the heights of Alta Rocca. This walk alternates between open and closed landscapes, holm oak forests and chestnut groves. A typical atmosphere of the Alta Rocca region.

This is an attractive hike due to the panoramic views from the summit (view of the Rizzanese valley, the Aiguilles de Bavella, the Gulf of Valinco, etc.) and from a historical point of view. Indeed, numerous educational panels, starting from the point (3), retrace the history of the lord of Rinucciu Della Rocca and his castle. The descent to the village winds its way through impressive granite boulders, once inhabited, in a forest of holm oaks that is as beautiful as it is mysterious.

A beautiful circular walk, mostly along the coast, offering magnificent views of the cliffs of Bonifacio on the way there and back over the Gulf of Ventilegne. This is particularly recommended on windy days when the waves break on the rocky chaos of Cap de Feno with Sardinia in the background. The hike starts at the Hermitage of the Trinity, a place to visit for contemplation with a Way of the Cross on mercy. Plan to go swimming in the wild coves.

A beautiful walk in the Alta Rocca, following shaded paths cooled by the proximity of numerous streams. You also pass through the village of Quenza, where you can stop for a bite to eat. Best done in mid-season or even in summer when it is very hot. I have been informed (September 2024) that the walk now starts from the restaurant La Ferme A Stadda, just below Zonza, 200 metres below point no. 1.

The path from Bonifacio to Strada Vecia, Madonetta is an old Genoese road paved and lined with low walls. You'll discover the Madonetta lighthouse, the Fazzio cove and Paragan beach, with exceptional views over Bonifacio.
